Good news, soap fans! Today marks the official beginning of the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

The annual event's official Twitter handler took to the social media site to announce that voting for the Soap Actor pre-nominations began today. The results of said voting will be announced on Wednesday, February 4, followed by an announcement of the final nominations on Tuesday, March 26.

As Soap Central previously reported, the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be taking place on Sunday, April 26. But this year's ceremony comes with a twist: new categories have been added, including an award for high-profile guest stints such as The Young and the Restless' Ray Wise (Ian Ward) and Meredith Baxter (Maureen Russell).

NATAS has yet to release broadcast details for this year's show, but behind-the-scenes rumblings point to the possibility of a televised ceremony (possibly on POP, formerly TVGN) rather than the strictly online format the Emmys had last year. While the ceremony will once again be held in Los Angeles, a venue has also yet to be announced. Stay tuned for further details as they develop.
