One of One Life to Live's biggest celebrity fans, Snoop Lion (formerly-and-probably-still-known as Snoop Dogg), is headed back to Llanview. As has been the case with his previous visits, the multi-platinum rapper won't just be appearing on-screen.
Snoop has agreed to write and produce One Life to Live's new theme song, "Brand New Start." The new theme will feature vocals by Polish pop siren Iza Lach, a new artist signed to Snoop's Berhane Sound System label. Snoop Lion will also be featured in the song.
"We're thrilled to have the support of such an iconic artist, like Snoop Lion. To have him write and produce the theme song for this series and to have the amazingly talented Iza Lach on board, is just incredible," Jeff Kwatinetz, Chairman and CEO of Prospect Park, said in a statement. "We are extremely grateful and excited for fans to hear the new theme song and of course catch Snoop Lion in upcoming episodes."
In addition to producing and performing on the theme song, Snoop Lion will also be appearing as himself in a handful of new episodes. In the show's storyline, Snoop Lion will visit the fictional town of Llanview to promote his new real-life independent documentary film, Reincarnated, a film which chronicles his journey from Snoop Dogg to Snoop Lion.
Snoop began shooting multiple scenes with new and returning favorites including, Robert S. Woods (Bo Buchanan), Hillary B. Smith (Nora Buchanan), Corbin Bleu (Jeffrey King), Robert Gorrie (Matthew Buchanan) and Kelley Missal (Danielle Manning) on April 11.
"As I said when I was here last time, I've been a fan of One Life to Live since I was a baby because my momma always had it on," Snoop said during a previous visit to One Life to Live. "It's cool to come back and hang with Bo Buchanan and the people in Llanview and 'rock out with them.'"
Iza Lach also appeared on-set to shoot the music video for the song on Wednesday, April 10.
Snoop Lion has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. His music career, as Snoop Dogg, began in 1992 when he was discovered by Dr. Dre. A year later, Snoop's debut album, Doggystyle, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It has sold more than four million copies in the US alone.
Snoop is no stranger to the cast of One Life to Live. He he has made several cameo appearances on the show during its run on ABC. In 2008, Snoop also remixed the show's theme song.
Snoop makes his OLTL return beginning May 22.
