A hot new serialized drama called Mélange is in the works, and its title perfectly describes its cast, which is a plentiful mixture of super popular soap opera actors.
The LGBTQ series has cast Morgan Fairchild as its lead, and the move should peak plenty of daytime fans' interest. After all, the actress has had a plethora of soap roles, including Days of our Lives' Anjelica Deveraux, The City's Sydney Chase, The Bold and the Beautiful's Dorothy, Falcon Crest's Jordan Roberts, and Search for Tomorrow's Jennifer Pace.
But Fairchild isn't the only attraction to Mélange, which will center on the fight over the ownership of a historic New York City gay bar after its proprietor has suddenly and mysteriously died. The series -- which Variety reports will explore themes of sexuality, immigration, addiction, power, and inclusion -- will include many other daytime stars.
Those who've been announced include Guiding Light alum Robert Newman (ex-Joshua Lewis), who will play Syd Winchester, the deceased owner of Mélange; One Life to Live alum Scott Evans (ex-Oliver Fish), who will play Ryann Parker, the young man who fights to keep Mélange out of the claws of Syd's wife, Vivian (Fairchild); All My Children alum Darnell Williams (ex-Jesse Hubbard); Ilene Kristen (ex-Delia Ryan, General Hospital/Ryan's Hope; ex-Roxy Balsam, OLTL); Kristen Alderson (ex-Kiki Jerome, GH; ex-Starr Manning, OLTL); David A. Gregory (ex-Robert Ford, OLTL); and Diana DeGarmo (ex-Angelina Veneziano, The Young and the Restless).
Actors Anne Ramsay, Perez Hilton, Alex Newell, Pamela Winslow Kashani, Mark Indelicato, Laith Ashley, and Maya Days will round out the cast.
Mélange, which is shooting in Manhattan this week, was created and is being executive produced by award-winning theatrical producer and political activist Tom D'Angora. It will be directed by Emmy Award winner Gary Donatelli and Tony Award-winning producer Tim Kashani.
At this time, no network is attached the serialized drama series -- but with so many beloved daytime stars signing on, they'd all be crazy not to try to snatch it up ASAP!
