Anyone who thought that General Hospital character Holly Sutton was dead -- was dead wrong! Friday's episode of the ABC soap opera surprised viewers with the reveal that she is very much alive. Unfortunately, she's locked in a cell in Monte Carlo. But, hey, the alive part is what matters, right?!
Following the exciting on-screen return moment, portrayer Emma Samms took to social media with a screengrab of Holly in the cell, which the actress captioned, "She's alive...!"

While Holly's resurrection is exciting, it wasn't a complete shock to viewers who paid attention to clues like that mysterious phone call that her ex, Robert (Tristan Rogers), received earlier this month. And, of course, GH also recently decided to bring Holly's son, Ethan Lovett (Nathan Parsons), back to the canvas, which was also a strong hint that Holly perhaps wasn't dead, as many people thought.
As for how long viewers can expect to see Holly on the canvas, Samms currently lives in the U.K. (where she was born), so it's unlikely that her return to GH will be full-time. Soap Central will keep you updated if we learn more!
Samms joined the cast of GH in 1982 and has appeared on-again, off-again since that time, with her last appearance being in 2015. Some of her other TV credits include Dynasty; The Colbys; Models, Inc.; and Doctors.
Samms isn't the only GH blast from the past in recent days. On September 17, Alicia Leigh Willis reprised her role as Courtney Matthews, who appeared in spirit form to help her father, Mike Corbin (Max Gail), pass over to the other side, following his battle with Alzheimer's disease. Willis first stepped into the role of Courtney in 2001 and left GH when the character died after giving birth in 2006. She has turned up a few times as Courtney's spirit since the character's death fourtee years ago.
