Rumors claim Weston no longer writing GL

Have you noticed in recent weeks that Guiding Light no longer airs executive producer and head writer credits at the beginning of the show? A lot of fans have -- and it had led to some wild internet speculation regarding the behind-the-scenes goings on at Guiding Light.

According to rumors, head writer Ellen Weston is nothing more than a figure head at the Procter & Gamble produced soap. The gossip continues, saying that Weston is no longer writing the show's storylines.

In a recent interview with Soap Opera Weekly (Vol. 15, Issue 17), Weston denied the allegations. Weston stated that she, newly appointed executive producer Ellen Wheeler and execs from CBS and Procter & Gamble are all actively involved in pitching story ideas.

"Ideas come from everywhere," Weston told the magazine. She mused that she'd take ideas from a barking dog if it helped create a blockbuster storyline.

Still, in the wake of the published interview, the Internet rumor mill continued to put a slant on talk that outside sources were contributing story ideas. It is not an uncommon practice for writers to solicit help from former scribes not associated with their respective shows.

And what about those missing credits? According to a show source, newly-appointed executive producer Ellen Wheeler asked that the show credits be removed from the beginning of the show.
