Stole Michael's research papers [June 17, 1998]
Broke into Michael's apartment [June 17, 1998]
Corporate espionage [1998] Memorable Quote
Vicky to her Uncle Alan, after one of their many arguments. Summer 1998:
"You're forgetting that Brandon's blood courses through these veins, Alan."
Vicky Brandon arrived in Springfield as Dr. Michael Burke's research assistant in 1998. Spurred on by dreams of fame, power and wealth, Vicky fed information to Alan Spaulding because he wanted to find out more about the project Michael was working on—cloning a human being. Vicky befriended Michael and made passes at him, until, one day, he left the room for a moment. When he caught her stealing papers from his briefcase and fired her. Though she was able to steal his notes on human cloning, those notes didn't include the aging formula. She then broke into his apartment on Alan's recommendation, but Michael told her he'd destroyed the aging formula notes. Ultimately, Michael realized the mistake he made in ever attempting to clone, and set off a bomb in the Spaulding lab containing any and all cloning information and tragically was caught in the blast himself. Vicky was guilt-ridden while Vanessa Reardon, who already distrusted Vicky, blamed her for the death of her friend and dug into Vicky's past until she uncovered her secret: She was Victoria Spaulding, granddaughter of Brandon Spaulding and the love of his life, the black Sharina Tamerlaine, and a member of the side of the family no Spaulding ever spoke about.
Her secret revealed, Vicky demanded her share of the Spaulding fortune, in 1999, only to get a job as Vanessa's assistant. Vicky then encouraged Beth Raines to cause problems for Matt and Vanessa, hoping Vanessa would quit to spend more time with her husband. Though her mother, Victoria, had agreed not to go after any of the Spaulding fortune years earlier, Vicky felt hat money was owed her and was determined to be a part of the Spaulding family dynasty. Though Vicky was given some power at Spaulding Enterprises (with the help of David Grant,) she felt as if the family was patronizing her to avoid a scandal. Feeling like a second-class citizen, Vicky agreed to help Ben Warren steal Spaulding corporate information. Unfortunately, her treachery was revealed and Philip fired her from Spaulding. He changed his mind however when he realized that Vicky had only acted out of anger and resentment. Vicky was astounded when Philip gave her a second chance and vowed to do right by the family.
Later, Vicky attended a few social engagements with Griffin Williams, but was romantically interested in David Grant who originally buddied up to her after Josh Lewis hired him to spy on her. This relationship went under a few bouts of strain in 2000 due to her wishes that he have greater career aspirations than law enforcement; his undercover work, which caused him to go on the Santos payroll; finally her snobbish attitude toward and demeaning treatment of Ruth Lockhart, a Company waitress that David befriended. Since that point, Vicky was a background presence in Springfield and vanished for good in the summer of 2001. No explanation for Vicky's whereabouts has been given. It can be presumed that she and David had broken up and that she had gone back to Barbados to The Tamerlaine/Spaulding estate, since she did mention that she missed Barbados and which felt more like home than Springfield and the Spaulding family.
