With her detective notebook in hand and brother Reggie just behind her, Lily showed up at Aidan's loft to try to wrap up some loose ends in her investigation. Explaining that she knew all of Jonathan's nefarious deeds, Lily said that one bit of information was left unresolved: the disappearance of Steve, the bodyguard. Reggie pulled Aidan aside and told him that he needed to shield Lily from the truth. Aidan remembered that Lily had gotten her heart broken once before when he was less-than-honest with her and told Reggie that he planned to tell Lily the truth about Steve's fate. Aidan pointed to a black band on his arm and told Lily that he had just come home from Steve's funeral. Lily took the news of Steve's murder surprisingly well. She was concerned for Aidan because he had just lost a friend. Aidan was touched by Lily's concern. Later, as Aidan was interacting with her, Lily became less upbeat and announced that her "butterflies" had come back.
Erica walked off the elevator at Pine Valley Hospital and straight into the middle of what was supposed to have been a private conversation between Maria and Zach. Erica took pleasure in sticking it to the pair and asked Maria if there are any other public places where she and Zach will display their affection for one another. Maria tried to silence Erica, but it did her no good. Erica then pointedly asked Maria how long she actually grieved for her dead husband. Zach pulled Erica aside and asked her to lay off of Maria. Later, Maria asked Zach why, after promising her that he would never lie to her, did he suddenly decide to falsely confess to killing Edmund. Zach was short on answers. Maria then confessed that she never stopped loving him.
Greenlee's announcement that she couldn't wait to start trying to have a baby was met with strong opposition from Ryan. Greenlee said that she understood that Ryan might want to rest up before making love, but that wasn't what Ryan had in mind. He adamantly refused to ever have children with Greenlee. As Greenlee tried to calm Ryan down, Ryan ordered her out of his hospital room. Later, Erica entered and did her best to comfort Ryan. She told him how thankful she was that he had survived the mine explosion. She urged him not to be upset that he had survived the explosion and that Jonathan had not. Erica again expressed her relief that he was okay and added how much he meant to her. Tears welled in Ryan's eyes, but he made no response to Erica's remarks. Outside the hospital, Jack's implication to Greenlee that Ryan has continually put her life in jeopardy was met with strong resistance. Greenlee warned her father not to make her choose between him and Ryan.
A furious Kendall called Ethan a "liar" and ordered him out of her home. Ethan refused to leave, saying that he was the one man who wouldn't walk away from her. Kendall confronted him with the truth – that he never saw Zach kill Edmund. Ethan was silent. Kendall reminded Ethan that she had promised him that he could tell her anything – but noted that he continued on with his lie. But, she said, that was not the thing that hurt her the most. Kendall burst into tears as she recalled how Ethan had sworn on his love for her that he saw Zach kill Edmund. If he lied about seeing Zach kill Edmund, Kendall asked what that meant about his love for her. Kendall took Ethan's ring off of her finger and forced him to take it back. Ethan swore again that his love for Kendall was real. As they argued, Derek arrived with questions about Ethan's previous statement that he had witnessed Zach kill Edmund. In front of Kendall, Ethan again swore that he stood by his original statement.
Di studied a picture of Dixie as David gave her background on Dixie's life and loves. David asked Di how she knew so much about Tad. Di told him that she read all about Tad in the paper. He told her that Tad cheated on Dixie and that is why he and Dixie had an affair. David told Di that he loved Dixie. She asked him why he wanted to pull off this charade. David ranted on about the evil Chandler Empire and if Di could convince JR she is Dixie, she could get him to let Babe see her son. She kept arguing that the whole idea was too crazy and they couldn't pull it off. Di then asked David what she is supposed to say where she has been for three years. David told Di she had nothing to lose, she would have money and she would be safe from the man who wants her dead. David said he already had set his plan into motion. Tad received a phone call from officials in Switzerland and told him they found Dixie's car, but there was no body in the car.
Babe and Tad went to the prison to see Krystal after learning she had an accident and was in the infirmary. Krystal told them she had too large a load of laundry in her arms and fell down the stairs. Krystal asked Babe about Adam Jr and Babe gleefully showed her pictures of the baby. Babe left to go for her visitation with Adam Jr, but Tad wouldn't leave. He wanted Krystal to tell him what really happened. He told Krystal he knew that she was beat up in prison. She told Tad that the her prison mates don't like women who steal babies. Obviously in pain, Tad helped Krystal out of her chair and Tad told the warden that he wanted her to make sure it didn't happen again or she would regret it. The warden told Tad that a beating was all part of the package. She told Tad she did not like threats and Tad told her that he would slap her face all over Tempo magazine with a big fat story of prison abuse.
Jack continued to insist that Greenlee leave Ryan. She told him she would never leave her husband. Erica told Jack he was dead wrong to Greenlee to leave Ryan. Greenlee went back in to see Ryan and he told Greenlee that maybe Jackson is right in telling her to leave him. Greenlee told Ryan all she needed was to be his wife. Ryan told her that he didn't want to lose her either. Erica tried to explain to Jack that Ryan and Greenlee love each other and he should stay out of their relationship. Maria came to see Ryan, but Erica stopped her at the door telling her she was not going to see Ryan. Maria told Erica that usually gatekeepers were three headed dogs, not two headed bitches. Jack tried to call Erica off, but Maria said she would come back. Ryan heard Maria in the hall and wanted to see her. Maria told Ryan that she was glad he was alright and Ryan apologized for Edmund's murder. Ryan also apologized for not seeing Jonathan for who he really was. Maria told Ryan that he wasn't the only one who refused to see the truth. Greenlee asked Erica how to get Ryan through this.
Maria told Zach that even though she tried to convince herself that the man she fell in love with in the desert no longer existed, she knew that he was the same man and that she still loved him. Maria continued to tell Zach how sorry she was that she hurt him and she doesn't know he Zach could ever forgive her. Zach told her in a friendly but firm manner that he accepted her apology but then immediately left.
Derek wanted Ethan to go to the police station to make a statement about Edmund's murder and suggested that he bring his lawyer with him. Kendall told Derek she would tell him about the murder exactly the way Ethan told her it happened. Derek said he wasn't interested in Kendall's statement. Ethan (almost desperately) told Kendall that the only thing that mattered was that they loved each other and he again slipped the engagement ring on her finger, promised her eternal happiness and went with Derek. J.R. showed up to check on Kendall and she asked him what he really thought about Ethan. J.R. told her that the guy who helped him get little Adam was not the same guy who slipped the ring on her finger.
At the police station, Derek told Ethan that lying to the police is a felony. Livia and Zach showed up at the station and Livia wanted to know why the charges against Zach had not been dropped. The D.A. told them that there was another witness in the case. Someone who Zach bragged to while in jail about how he killed Edmund. Ethan, still sticking with his story, smiled smugly. Zach told Ethan to cut his losses and tell the truth. Zach told Ethan he knew that he paid the witness and Ethan told him that he did whatever it would take to win. Zach gave Ethan another chance to come clean when Livia came over and told Zach that the charges against him had been dropped. Ethan couldn't believe his ears. Livia told him that the D.A. knows that a conviction is impossible and there was too much stink attached to the case. Derek and the D.A. told Ethan that they had no choice and that they may never know who the liar is. Just then, Kendall was at the police station and exclaimed that she knew who was lying and pointed straight at Ethan.
Di needs to be sure that David's plan will work and asks what he has set in motion. David tells her that Tad is going to track down Dixie and it will lead him to her. She asks how she is supposed to hide her past. David says that he will invent a new one. She wonders how she is going to fool J.R. He tells her that she won't have to because Tad will convince him for her. She asks why Tad would do that and he replies that she is going to get Tad to fall in love with her. She thinks he means by sleeping with him. David laughs and says that she only has to play hard-to-get...the more she pushes him away, the more he will want her and will try to prove to others that she is Dixie. She wonders how she is supposed to be Dixie and not sleep with him. David informs her that Dixie and Tad's marriage was on the rocks and she left the country to have their child because it was a high-risk pregnancy and Tad did not approve of her going through with it. She asks what she is supposed to say happened to their child. David tells her to say that the child died in the car crash. She gets angry at this and asks how she is supposed to tell him that after David just did the same thing to his son. After she calms down, David tells her that once she humanizes J.R. and he makes peace with Babe, she can give Tad closure by telling him that the spark is no longer there and then she can skip town. After some more convincing, she agrees to do it.
Tad is on the phone with Dr. Catelle. He thinks that a practical joke is being played on him and threatens to have the call traced. The doctor gives him a license plate number of the car found to be checked for verification. Brooke walks into the room and hears the conversation. Tad takes down the doctor's number and hangs up in disbelief. He tells Brooke that Dixie may be alive. He goes on to say that the license plate is a match to Dixie's car and there was no body found in the wreckage. She tells him that it doesn't mean that Dixie is alive and that there could be many reasons why there is no body. She reminds him that he checked all of the area hospitals after the accident. He agrees that he would've heard something years ago, if she had turned up. He goes on that he can't stop missing her...probably because of how J.R. has turned out to be just like Adam. He confesses that he thought he saw her the night of the explosion, but it turned out to be someone else. She warns him not to get caught up in fantasies and illusions or it will make him crazy. He agrees that he has come all this way and has to continue to move forward. He thanks her for her advice and she starts to leave when he tells her that he needs her help with Krystal. He explains what happened to her in prison. Brooke informs him that she will never help Krystal or David and she will not waste the space in her magazine that will result in special treatment for his girlfriend. Tad denies that Krystal is his girlfriend and accuses Brooke not caring what happens to her and being glad that she is in prison. Brooke agrees that she is glad because of what she and Babe did and makes the point that Jamie got into trouble because of them. She admits that she is glad Krystal was arrested, or else Tad might have married her. Before she leaves, she reminds him not have fantasies about Dixie because it's not healthy. He calls Dr. Catelle back and asks him if he could check the area hospitals for any records of an unidentified woman coming in...up to one month after the accident. He agrees to do so. After they hang up, Dr. Catelle calls David and tells him that Tad has taken the bait.
Babe arrives at the Chandler Mansion for her visit with her son. Adam answers the door and slams it in her face when the chaperone, who's running late, is not with her. She knocks again and tells him that she is not responsible for dragging the chaperone there. She tells him that he will have to watch them in the meantime. He lets her in. He takes the opportunity to blame David for backstabbing him with Liza and turning J.R. against him. She informs him that Tad tipped off Liza, not David. He replies that her son will be teased at the playground because of who and what his mother is. After insulting her some more, she tells him that she doesn't have to take this. He tells her to leave, then. He takes Little Adam from her and tells her that he is too busy to babysit her and his grandson. He then threatens to call the judge and tell him that she is weaseling her way around the rules. She denies it and he tells her to wait outside. He starts to say something about when the chaperone arrives, but he never finishes the sentence as he is hit with a dizzy spell. Babe runs over to him and asks what is wrong. He just stutters and looks confused. She grabs Little Adam from him and puts him down into the playpen. She then makes Adam sit down and asks again what is wrong. He is still out of it and stutters some more. She calls out to Winifred to call 911. His head clears then. She tells him that he checked out there for a moment. He brushes it off, saying that she gave him a splitting headache. She asks if she can call his doctor and he refuses, saying he only needs her to get some aspirin. After she leaves, Adam tells himself that he'll be fine...a couple of aspirin and he'll be fine. She returns a little later with the aspirin and some water. She tells him that she is worried and he should see a doctor. He doesn't buy her concern and asks if she will use this to make him look unfit to watch his grandson. She denies that she would. Just then, the chaperone arrives and Adam threatens to make her life hell if she mentions what happened to him. She promises not to tell anybody, but wants to make sure that he'll tell J.R. He makes a snide remark and tells her to go outside with her son. After she leaves, he loses his composure and his hand starts to shake uncontrollably.
Maria comes home to find three teenaged girls partying in her living room. Maddie walks in from another room, tying up her blouse. She introduces Maria to a boy named Justin, who has followed her into the room. Maria kicks everyone out, expect for Maddie. She tells her that she knows better. Maddie says that they were celebrating her being an heiress. Maria tells her that she is cleaning up the mess and asks her how old Justin is. She tells her that he is a Junior in High School. Maria replies that he is too old for her. Maddie says that Maria likes older men and so does she. Maria informs her that she is still her child and she makes the rules in this house. Maddie tells her that the house is hers and Sam's and she should leave and go be with her lover. Maria states that Sam must have told her about Jonathan being responsible for Edmund's death. She sarcastically replies that it's big news that her lover isn't a murderer, but that doesn't give her the right to sneak off with him before Edmund is even cold. She starts to walk away, but Maria grabs her and tells her that they were looking for Sam, nothing more. She goes on to say that she wants to be close with her. Maddie replies that she doesn't answer to her anymore, she answers to Brooke. Maria says that she gets that Maddie hates her, but that she doesn't know everything that happened between her and Edmund. Maddie tells her to elaborate. Maria hesitates and says that she can't. Maddie tells her that she's right, she does hate her...but she has no idea how much. Maria looks helpless as Maddie storms out.
At the police station, Kendall swears that Ethan confessed that he lied about Zach killing Edmund. Derek tells her that he'll get her statement and she needs to talk to the D.A. Ethan begs her not to do this because he loves her and she needs to trust him to work it out privately. She tells him that he could have told her the truth long ago, if he trusted her. She asks Derek where the prison snitch is. As they wait for the D.A. to bring the snitch in, J.R. gets nervous and tells Kendall that he knows that this was his idea, but there is no going back after this. She says that she wants Ethan to see how jail feels. The D.A. brings in Anthony and assures him that he has immunity. The snitch admits that he never spoke to Zach and that he has never seen Ethan before. He then points out J.R. and says that he was the one who paid him off. J.R. denies it, saying that he has no reason to set Zach up. Derek says that J.R. would do it as a favor to his new boss, Ethan. Angry, Kendall yells at him for consoling her all day, while being a part of this set-up from the beginning. J.R. denies it again, accusing them of slander. The D.A. tells them that he is going to check their bank records to find out who paid Anthony off. Kendall tells off J.R., Zach and Ethan. She throws her ring at Ethan and tells all three of them to never come near her again as she storms out. Ethan picks the ring up. J.R. tells him that he should return it because once Kendall makes a decision, that's it. Ethan replies that he isn't going to just step aside while J.R. makes a move on Kendall. J.R. replies that he won't make a move too soon. She might hate Ethan more, but he is running a close second. He goes on to say that Zach is third on her hit list. At that moment, Kendall is packing Ethan things into a garbage bag. There is a knock on her door. It is Zach. She tells him that he was right, Ethan is a true Cambias and she should have listened to his warnings. He tells her that that isn't what he came to say. She replies that she doesn't care what he has to say because she is on overload, at the moment. He smiles and says that he'll come back tomorrow. She tells him not to bother, she told him to stay away and she meant it. She slams the door in his smiling face.
Babe shows up at the Chandler mansion, which enrages JR because she had already used up her 3 hours of visitation. He tries to slam the door in her face but changes his mind when she tells him Adam almost killed their son. Babe tries to explain what happened with Adam's episode and tries to get JR to promise that he will take his father to the hospital. JR wants to know what the ramifications would be if he doesn't do as she asks, and she tells him that she will call Family Services in the name of protecting her son. Just then, Adam walks in, furious that she opened up to his son. He goes on the attack, calling her a vicious bitch and intimating that her goal is to say anything to take another crack at custody. Adam denies that there is anything wrong with his health, and chalks it up to her standard conniving behavior. As JR listens to the verbal tennis match, Babe admits that Adam's denial scares her - because to her, it means that he doesn't care enough about Little Adam to get himself checked out by a doctor. Before the match can continue, the nanny comes in carrying the child in question, and announces their intentions to go to the park. She and Babe immediately get into it because Babe has a problem with how the nanny has her son dressed, and the nanny insists that she knows what's best because she spends more time with Little Adam. Infuriated, Babe completely oversteps her bounds and attempts to fire the nanny, even though she acknowledges that she doesn't sign her paycheck. Unfazed, the nanny reminds her that she takes her orders from JR, and Adam gleefully denotes that as strike two. The nanny goes on to note that she has over 20 years of experience under her belt and has successfully raised 5 children of her own - which is extremely stellar compared to a woman who drops her baby in a cabin, misplaces it, and then steals it. Adam chimes in again, saying that the nanny has made several good points. He then offers to kick Babe out, but JR says he can handle it. In a surprising move, he fires the nanny and his father looks at him with surprise, while Babe tries to mask her smug expression with a surprised face of her own. After JR kicks the nanny out, Babe thanks him for supporting her. Irritated, JR tells her not to think they are on the same side. Adam inquires as to the reasoning behind his son's decision, and JR is forced to admit that Babe was right for once. Taking the points where she can get them, Babe moves back to trying to take care of Adam. She tells him if she could get JR to fire him too, she would. She asks JR to support her in this too because as he is now, she doesn't feel Adam is fit to take care of their son. Dryly, JR asks how his father feels and if he thinks he'll keel over anytime soon. As expected, Adam denies it - and Babe tries to appeal to her ex-husband again. Done with the showdown, JR tells her to get the hell out of his house. After admonishing him for using foul language in front of the baby, she kisses her son, asks JR to think more about what she said and takes her leave.
A short time later, Adam is alone in the living room and gets up from the sofa to return a cup to the drink stand. As JR watches from the foyer, he stumbles a bit and braces himself on the stand. After a moment, JR reenters the living room and sounds genuinely concerned as he asks his father how he's really feeling. Adam doesn't really think his son cares, but JR promises that he is sincere.
Brooke pays Krystal a visit at the jail. Suspicious because there is certainly no love lost between them, Krystal inquires into the reasons for her surprise visit. Brooke tells her that she has the power to end all violence against her, if she's interested. Krystal doesn't immediately jump at the offer, and Brooke wants to know why. Krystal wants to figure out her angle, but Brooke thinks it should be obvious. After Krystal takes a stab at what Brooke's write up would focus on and comes dangerously close, Brooke asks if she gave Tad the idea for the exposé. Krystal denies doing so, and asks about the specifics of Tad's request. Brooke tells her that Tad wants Krystal to make it through her sentence without anymore injuries. She also tells Krystal that she originally told Tad no. Curious as to her change of heart, she waits to hear an explanation - as there has to be something in it for Brooke. As it turns out, Brooke does want something - a promise that Krystal will leave Tad alone for the rest of their days. Brooke tells Krystal that if she accepts the deal, she will write up a story that will shine a light so bright on the system inside, she won't have to worry about her treatment for the rest of her sentence. Slightly amused, Krystal again skirts giving an answer by saying that she still doesn't know what Brooke will get out of the deal. Brooke says that she and Tad share a child - and although Krystal wouldn't know what she means (because her relationship with David is vastly different), she wants what is best for Tad. Knowing that she isn't what is best for Tad, Krystal says it out loud anyway. Brooke confirms this, saying that as a prisoner of the state, Tad worries about her all the time. Brooke feels that at the rate he is going, Tad will need to be committed by the time Krystal is paroled. She asks Krystal to think long and hard about what is best for Tad before she makes her final decision. Brooke tells Krystal that her offer is quite serious but Krystal says she isn't interested. Brooke pleads with her to see that a relationship with Tad is not in his best interest. After leading her on for a moment, Krystal tells Brooke that she agrees, and that she told Tad that their relationship was over months ago. Visibly relieved, Brooke says that if Krystal really did as she said, it was a good move. She starts to leave, but Krystal stops her and notes something interesting: Brooke is angry at Krystal for making decisions that affected other people's lives, and yet Brooke is doing the same to Tad without a second thought. Seeing the irony and accepting it with a smile, Brooke simply takes her leave.
The straw that almost breaks the camel's back is that David wants Di to become a blonde. She knows that a simple dye job won't convince people that she is Dixie. David admits that he has more tricks up his sleeve to get the job done. He further admits that he doesn't need for Di to be a dead ringer for Dixie, but that the extra push of blonde hair couldn't hurt. Di reminds him that she made him do a double take without a color change, but David insists that she go along with it, because it's what she agreed to do. After a few moments of silent consideration, she acquiesces and starts to read the directions on the back of the box and heads toward the bathroom. David calls out to her and says that he is late for community service at the hospital. He hopes that, upon his return, he will find a brand new Di.
At the PI office, Tad dreams that a broadcast from Switzerland says that Dixie's body was found flash frozen and is now being thawed at a cryogenics center. The broadcast says that they expect a full recovery. With that announcement, Tad jolts awake, somewhat relieved that it was just a dream. After swearing off naps, he tries to return to work. His attempt is thwarted when Maria shows up, asking if he still loves Brooke. Maria proceeds to tell him that she is on the edge of breaking her doctor's oath by doing something harmful to Brooke. She is infuriated that Brooke has managed to squeeze her way in between mother and children, and that she has complete control over all of the things Edmund left to Sam and Maddie. Tad listens quietly, and then says that he thinks Maria's real problem is with Edmund. He feels that Brooke isn't trying to frustrate her - rather, she is trying to honor Edmund's last wishes. For a moment, Maria tells him that he's wrong just for the sake of saying so...and then has to admit that he is more right than she would like to accept. She wants Tad to help her find a way around the will, but Tad suggests that what she should concentrate on is getting rid of the anger. He knows that finding out the way Edmund felt toward her at the end of his life has to be hard to deal with, especially given that she doesn't really have a place to go with it. Maria responds by telling him that she can't wrap her head around Edmund's feelings or how she let her life get to where it is. She asks him to help her find out who she really is. After complimenting her, Tad tells her that if she tries hard enough, she will be able to see the good things in herself. He goes on to say that if she wants to, she can have a stellar life, despite the fact that Brooke is a semi-permanent fixture. Maria is still doubtful, but Tad tells her that she has to stop looking backwards at all the bad things - like her mistakes. She needs to live in the now, and for the future - and he knows this because he recently got the same advice himself. She admits that she can't see the road ahead because she is stuck behind the thought of how Edmund felt about her before he died, and how Sam and Maddie feel about her because of all the fallout they have had to deal with. She tells him that she recognizes how she feels - like she is still Maureen, back in the desert, oblivious to her past. Tad asks if it isn't the guilt of her past that's holding her down - and that if she feels like Maureen, is it possible she is still in love like Maureen? Tad tells her that if there is still a lot of Maureen left in her, there is nothing to be ashamed of. Spending a significant amount of time as someone else is bound to have an effect - and this is something he knows about firsthand. She tells him that she doesn't know where to start - she can't explain any of the things that she did in the past year or why. Tad tells her to stop beating herself up over the past and just live. She admits to being too scared to let go, because if that involves Zach, she'd practically have to walk over Edmund's grave and ignore the protests of her kids to do it. She says that she hates herself for the things that she did over the last year, and Tad can relate, as he did some pretty horrid things himself. He then tells her that she needs to stop blaming herself for everything - because she isn't the only guilty party. Maria admits that she is beginning to think she is meant to be alone. Tad believes that if that ends up happening, it will be Maria's choice - and that life without Zach is a good thing. Tad tells her that it is possible to have a great life without a great love in it. She asks what the secret is, and he told her that he just takes all the extra love and invests it into his family. She thanks him, and he says he hopes he was able to talk her down from hurting Brooke. Maria agrees to keep herself in check just as the phone rings. The doctor from Switzerland is on the other end, and tells Tad that he has some news. 6 days after the accident, a Jane Doe was brought into a rural hospital near the site of the crash.
Ethan stirs Greenlee from her nap by waving coffee under her nose. Crankily, she asks what he wants. He tells her he wanted to thank her for saving the life of the woman he loves. She reminds him that Kendall hates him, and adds that she shares the sentiment. Ethan tries to gain sympathy by saying that even though Kendall hates him now, their relationship is not unlike the one Greenlee had with Ryan not too long ago. She admits that they had a rocky start, but there really is no comparison between her marriage and his failed attempt at a relationship. She reminds him (again) that he lied on the love he had for Kendall for the sole purpose of punishing his father. Ethan believes that Greenlee had to have done some things in her pursuit of Ryan that she justified in the name of love. Greenlee disagrees, saying that the things he said and did in the name of revenge were to a much greater degree than anything she ever did. Ethan tells her that she can spin it anyway that she wants, but that she needs to check her arrogance at the door because underneath all the specifics, they are the same. He asks her to forget about her hatred for him and to focus instead on Kendall. Greenlee runs through a summary of the things that he did to Kendall, and then tells him that people with a lot more reason to be bitter have managed to have normal and productive lives. Ethan points out that she isn't a good example of that, and she retorts by saying that she has more than pure revenge in her heart. She tells him that he had it all - love, good looks, a bottomless bank account - and he blew it for no good reason. He mulls that over for a moment, and then asks her how much she hates Kendall. After giving it a rating of 3.5 on a scale of 1 to 10, Greenlee explains that she and Kendall have a past, and she herself has a memory. Ethan believes that if what she says is true, Greenlee should hate Kendall more. Greenlee tells him that he doesn't know as much as he thinks he does. Ignoring her summation, Ethan regards what has happened between he and his ex-fiancée as a bump in the road, and something they will have no trouble getting through if their friends would simply stop making things worse. Greenlee boils it down for him: she's not his friend, and she's certainly not going to run interference for him to help patch things up between him and Kendall. He notes that he understands Greenlee hating him, but he wants to know where that leaves Kendall. Greenlee tells Ethan that he is history as far as Kendall is concerned, and that is the best thing for her. Ethan tells her that she is as bad as Erica - not really caring how people feel, only about being right. Angry, Greenlee explains how she would have loved it if she was wrong about him - because that would mean his father really did kill Edmund instead of her brother-in-law. Instead, her husband is in the hospital, pushing everyone away as he deals with the overwhelming guilt and grief Jonathan rained down on his head. Ethan tells her that he and Kendall understand each other in a way that she refuses to see, and that they are cut from the same cloth. Greenlee tells him that while they may have lying, conniving and manipulating in common, there is a very real difference between the way Kendall approached their relationship and the way Ethan did. She tells him that Kendall was willing to include him in her plans, while he didn't think she was important enough, and left her out. Ethan is not convinced to stop going after Kendall, and Greenlee decides to propose a hypothesis: if she is wrong and Ethan manages to win Kendall back, what happens the next time he gets consumed with getting revenge on his father? Ethan insists that his love for Kendall and his hatred for his father are two separate things, but Greenlee believes that will only last until the next time Zach manages to get under his son's skin. Ethan surmises that while things have worked out nicely for Greenlee to this point, there will be some point in the future where something seemingly insurmountable will rise up in front of her. He says that he hopes to be there for her, with Kendall by his side. Greenlee tells him that she has plenty of people that she can turn to before she would turn to him. Ethan attempts to correct her by saying that she doesn't have a lot of friends - and that she can't afford to blow off one as powerful as him.
Zach shows up at Kendall's door once again, and is almost immediately greeted with the same response - a slammed door. Then, from inside, she asks what he wants. He announces that he wants her to marry him - and she opens the door and stares at him in disbelief. Zach reminds her that he is the only Cambias she hasn't been engaged to, and quips that he feels a little left out. He invites himself in and she pronounces him certifiable for even suggesting they marry. She asks what he could possibly want, and he tells her that he wouldn't have asked if he wasn't serious. She tells him there is no way she would marry him because she is pretty certain that she hates him. He tells her that if she did marry him, it would be for love. Zach then tells Kendall that he is about to take over Cambias - as soon as his father's will is overturned. What that means is that everything will be taken away from Ethan. In addition, that also means everything will be taken away from Bianca and Miranda. She now believes that his decisions are sleazier than originally thought, but he repeats himself: if she marries him, it would be for love. She starts to lay into him, but he silences her by saying that he didn't mean love for him - he meant love for her sister. Genuinely confused, she asks for more details. Zach lays it out for her: as his wife, she would be entitled to 50% of everything that he owns. She could turn around and bequeath whatever percentage of that to whomever she wanted to, including her sister and her niece. In the interim, he plans to "restructure" his son. She still thinks he is sleazy, and he admits to not being very nice. He brings her back on track and says that his offer is solely a business proposition - and he needs an answer. Stuck on the fact that Bianca and Miranda would lose what they now hold, Kendall is set to reject Zach. He reminds her again that she can give it all back to them if she marries him. He then asks her to remember what it felt like when Ryan took control of Fusion and gave it all to Greenlee - and how hurt she was. Kendall swears too quickly that she is over that pain, but Zach knows the truth. Kendall can't see how he could know something different, but Zach says he can see it in her eyes. He lures her closer by saying that if she agrees to his proposition, she can be back on top again. Kendall says that she isn't interested because marriage for business isn't of interest to her. Zach reminds her that Greenlee's marriage to Ryan started out that way - and that was proof it could work. Hating the comparisons, Kendall simply says that Zach needs to be truthful: his objective is to bury his son. Zach confesses that it's all about getting back at his son - but then notes that very thing is the beauty of his proposal. He doesn't think there is any better way for her to get back at the man who treated her so abysmally. Kendall says that she can think of better ways to get back at Ethan than marrying his daddy. Zach feigns hurt feelings at her statement, as he needs her more than she needs him. Immediately, Kendall thinks that Zach is about to cross the line - but he quickly clears up the misunderstanding. Every day that his casinos are closed, he loses a ton of money. He needs her to take over his gambling licenses so that they can start to recoup the losses suffered thus far. Slightly stunned, Kendall asks why he would trust her with the job and he tells her that he would trust his wife with anything. Kendall thinks that running casinos is vastly different from running Fusion. Zach doesn't think that, boiled down, they are very different. The main component of both is sales, and he thinks Kendall is a whiz at that. At that, it finally starts to sink in with Kendall that Zach is very serious. She then asks what Maria will say when she finds out about their arrangement. The upbeat tone out of his voice, he tells her that regardless of her answer to his proposal, she is never to talk about Maria. Taken aback, Kendall quickly agrees - and then tells him that she isn't entirely sure he isn't just messing with her head. He tells her that she can have it in writing that she and her lawyers can look over because he has nothing to hide. With a twinkle back in his eye, he calls her Mrs. Slater and then asks if she can guess what her mother would say if they went through with it. Kendall says that Erica's reaction is almost worth the price of a yes. He tells her to think about it but not to take too long, as every day that she takes is another day his casino is closed. That makes for a greater loss of money that she could potentially claim half of. He leaves, and after a moment, Kendall grabs her things and leaves as well.
Babe arrives at the hospital and finds her father mopping floors. She announces that her switch from cleaning up highways to cleaning up the hospital had to be partly his doing. David admits what he did, saying that he missed seeing her and spending time with her. Without response, Babe starts to work and David notices something is wrong. He inquires, but she initially rebuffs him. After a moment, she gives in and tells him about what happened at the Chandler house, including that the nanny was fired. David, light bulb going off in his head, tells her that he already cleaned the floor and that she should take it easy. He leaves his post early to take care of some business.
A while later, David returns to the cabin, looking at his mail as he comes through the door. When he finally looks up, he is stunned to see a blonde Di dressed in very Dixie-like clothes. Unsure of herself, she asks if it looks okay and David says it looks perfect - and just in time. Suddenly scared, she asks what he has in store, and he says that the Dixie show is going on the road - right now.
As Zach leaves his condo, Kendall arrives at the hospital and overhears Greenlee talking to Ethan. Greenlee thinks he is threatening her, but he tells her that he simply thinks she shouldn't burn bridges. She tells him that regardless of what reasons he could come up with, what he did to Kendall was unforgivable and she would never help him get Kendall back. Insulted, Ethan tells her that she should be careful because luck has a way of running out, and she had more than overfilled her quota as of late. Kendall decides at that moment to join the party, and tells Ethan that he should behave or she'll accept his father's marriage proposal.
Maria overhears Tad's phone conversation with the doctor and politely asks if everything is OK. Tad tells her about the possibility Dixie might be alive and sends a photo of Dixie to the doctor. He asks Maria if he is crazy to think Dixie survived, but Maria does not answer him. She says there is nothing wrong with hoping and after all, look at her. She survived a plane crash, turned into someone else for five years, then came back home to her family and finally remembered who she was. The doctor calls Tad back and says that the nurse who cared for the Jane Doe could not match her up to Dixie's photo because this woman suffered severe facial injuries. The woman was transported to another hospital for further surgery, but the hospital burned down last year and there are no copies of her medical record, the doctor. Plus, the nurse was not sure if the woman was pregnant, he adds. Tad thanks him for his time then tells Maria that something is not right. He says that someone is setting him up to hurt him good.
Di tells David that she does not think she ready to become Dixie, but David disagrees, stating that the plans are in motion and she is going to meet Dixie's family today. Di says that she is worried she will answer their questions wrong, has no clue about Dixie and needs to practice first. David tells her not to worry and that she will do fine. Di says that she is worried about getting arrested, but David hands her a piece of paper and assures her, that will not happen. Di says the information on the paper is pure genius. David tells her that when she meets Dixie's family, to look them square in the eye, like she is looking through their souls.
JR asks Adam what is wrong with his health, but he only gets an angry response from Adam. Adam claims that JR does not care if he lives or dies and in fact, probably is ready for him to croak so he can have all of his money and power. JR questions if Adam is taking his blood pressure medicine daily, but Adam ignores his question and starts going off on JR. He says that JR does not care about him and thinks he would really sell out little Adam for Colby. Adam says that sure, he made a deal with David, but he would have never allow Babe to get any closer to the baby than she is now. He gets what he wants, makes deals then break them all the time, Adams says. Adam clutches his heart and head in pain and when JR picks up the phone to call 911, Adam swipes it out of his hand. JR tells him that he does not want him to die, but Adam is doubtful. JR gives Adam some pills and asks him how long he has had these severe headaches. Adam tells him only once and that he is not going to die because he has too much to live for, such as his children. Adam goes on to express how much he loves his children, how he would die or sell his soul for them just to make them happy. JR is touched by his father's words and tells him "I love you and I don't want you to die." When JR brings up that his father is due for his yearly physical, Adam brushes it off. JR reminds him that he has a history of heart attacks and strokes, but before he can push the idea any further, Tad comes running in, accusing Adam of setting him up. Tad tells JR about the doctor's call and his feeling Adam did it. JR gets upset and tells Adam that if he is behind it, he won't be upset if his father did die. JR slams past them and when he goes to open the door, Di is on the other side. When he asks her who she is, she says, "You don't know it, but I'm the answer to your prayers."
Greenlee is the first one to say the idea of Kendall marrying Zach is nuts, but Ethan pipes up soon after. Ethan tells Kendall that she is not serious about marrying Zach, but Zach walks in and proclaims he was not joking about marrying Kendall. He hands her a pink rose and a prenuptial agreement wrapped in a small box. Kendall and Zach tell them that the marriage would be a business arrangement because they both agree that love only complicates things in the end. Zach informs that if they marry, Kendall will get half of Cambias Industries when he snatches it from Ethan and his licenses back to open his casinos. Greenlee tells Kendall that she has to stop joking about this, but Kendall snipes that Greenlee wasn't joking when she married Ryan, also for business reasons. Plus, her and Zach both share the same interests-they want to get revenge on Ethan, Kendall says. Greenlee tells Zach that she won't let him use her friend to screw over his son. When Ethan tells Kendall not to marry Zach, she says he has no say in her life anymore and she can do what she wants. Zach points out that Greenlee married for business and probably had no clue she would end up with psycho genetics, hinting that if she were to have a baby with Ryan, it would not make the most normal child. Greenlee almost goes for his throat, but Kendall breaks it up and Greenlee takes her to a medicine cabinet to talk privately. Greenlee says that she understands Ethan hurt her, but marrying his dad is not the answer. Kendall says Ethan did more than hurt her-he made himself out to be the perfect one then he lied to her and the only way to stop him from lying is to stick it to him. Greenlee reminds that the last time she got revenge was on Ryan, using his brother, now she wants to use Ethan's father as payback. Kendall says that she thought Ethan was her prince charming, her happy ending, but he wasn't and she feels that she will die without ever experiencing a happy ending. Greenlee embraces her and doesn't like the idea of her becoming Mrs. Zach Slater, but respects her enough to stick by whatever choice she makes. Greenlee opens up about Ryan's outburst when she suggested having children in the future and Kendall offers to talk to him to help. Before they go in to see Ryan, Greenlee informs Kendall about his withdrawn and silent condition. Kendall understands and jokes that once she convinces Ryan to have children with Greenlee, they can name the baby after her. Greenlee says that is out of the question, but there is a good chance she could be the baby's godmother. When they go inside, they see rumpled sheets and no sign of Ryan.
Once alone, Zach jokes that Ethan should be his best man, but Ethan doesn't crack a smile. Ethan says that he is not surprised his father targeted Kendall, but Zach says Ethan is the target, Kendall is just an accessory to it. Zach boosts that he can make Kendall happy because he will not lie to her. Ethan remembers the night he almost killed Zach and threatens to hurt him again if he even touches one hair on Kendall's head. Zach is not bothered by his threats and reminds him that he has no claim on what Kendall does anymore. After Zach walks out, Maria comes in and ignores Ethan. Ethan apologizes again for lying to her, but she tells him she does not want to hear it. Ethan lashes out that Zach has pulled another trick.
