Katie and Simon got into yet another jam as they drove to the Walsh mansion to attend the reception for Bryant after his funeral. Simon, after driving a car into Lucinda's foyer, somehow got lost in the backwoods of Oakdale. This, however, gave Katie time to reflect, and she couldn't believe Bryant was gone. She had regrets for not spending more time with him.
Later, the subject of sex arose again as Katie and Simon drove further away from civilization. Katie got agitated with Simon for constantly wanting sex after spurning her advances for almost a year. Katie tried to calm herself by humming. Later, they settled down and focused on Bryant again. They realized that life could be taken away instantly and that they should make the most of what they had when they had it. At that moment, they found the highway and got back on course to the reception.
Molly and Jake went home after the funeral, and the kids were already in bed, thanks to super grandma Donna. The subject of Nick was raised, and Molly didn't like the fact that Nick was getting between her and Abigail. It was looking like "Nick's the good guy, and I'm the heavy." Jake didn't understand, and Molly explained how Nick was withdrawing his friendship from Abigail because of interference from Molly, and Abigail was blaming her. Jake suggested that maybe it was time to tell Abigail the full truth about her past relationship with Nick. Molly said that if she did that, then she'd have to fess up to other things she and Nick had done -- "things that you were kind enough not to ask me about."
Jake held Molly close and said, "Molly, nothing can hurt us." Molly pulled away and told Jake more about her sordid past. The night of the robbery, Nick had told her to wait in the car while he picked up a few things in a store. When he'd returned all of a sudden, they'd been on the run. Hearing police cars chasing them, Nick had persuaded Molly to let him out of the car so they could split up. Molly had, and she had eventually been caught by police while Nick had escaped. Nick had left all the stolen cash inside the car, implicating Molly in the crime.
Molly hadn't squealed on Nick because she'd thought he would step forward and confess. Jake couldn't believe that Molly had taken the rap for that guy. Molly said, "So, can you see why I can't forgive him?" Jake was incensed and said, "Forgive him? It's going to take everything I have not to break his neck." Molly calmed him down a notch, and Jake then offered to just threaten Nick. Molly again said no but later agreed to Jake administering a mild warning over a couple of beers.
Craig stopped by Java Underground after the funeral to visit one of Bryant's old haunts. He ran into Isaac, who expressed his condolences to the grieving father. They shared a drink in Bryant's honor, "To Bryant." Craig admitted to Isaac that maybe he had been "a good teacher for Bryant by turning him in for stealing that money." Lisa dropped by and chose not to kick Craig while he was hurting. She expressed her sympathy then Craig left for the reception.
Bonnie asked Isaac why he wasn't planning on going to the reception. He danced around the questions until Bonnie outright lectured Isaac on how he was a citizen of Oakdale and how he was expected to not only be at the funeral, but at the reception, as well. Isaac's sorrowful response was that he was "just not into partying over a friend's death." Bonnie called off her attack and offered to go with him, as his escort.
Sierra, Lucinda, and Rose walked into the Walsh den and started to prepare for the guests to arrive later. Mitzi and Matthew carried in one of Bryant's favorite dishes, and that sparked Lucinda to reminisce. She'd "had plans for" that boy. Rose said he'd had a lot to offer, remembering, "He gave a lot of love, and he got a lot of love." That made Lucinda break out in tears. She pulled herself together and went to check on the preparations.
Mitzi asked Rose if Paul had been at the funeral. She said he had been, but she had tried to stay away from him, reminding Mitzi that he couldn't find out about her past. Mitzi wondered if he was going to drop by the reception and asked what she would do. Rose nervously cooed, "Go walk my dog." Mitzi said, "But, Rose, you don't have a dog."
The Munson family arrived. Sierra spied Jennifer and swooped in to thank her for the beautiful words she'd spoken earlier at the funeral. They were consoling each other when they both saw Billy arrive, stepping into the den doorway. Jennifer and Billy got together in a corner, and she told him that while she'd written her speech about Bryant's life, she hadn't been able to stop thinking about the possibility of the two of them being together. Billy said there "has to be a way we can stay together."
Lucinda found Sierra in the hallway, overcome by all the mourners and also her emotion. Sierra wanted to be strong but...she had lost her son. Wanting her family closer to her heart, Lucinda asked Sierra and little Lucy to return home, "if only for a little while." Sierra didn't answer and fell sobbing into her mother's arms.
Rose and Lucinda were in the foyer, talking, when the doorbell rang. It was Craig, and it was clear from the looks on Rose and Lucinda's faces that he hadn't been invited. Seeing their reaction, he graciously asked to attend the reception, but understood that if he was not welcome, he'd leave. Lucinda let him stay, and as he walked into the den, she said, "I hope St. Peter was listening, because I want points for this at the Pearly Gates." Craig walked into the den and saw Sierra, but she turned and walked out of the house. Craig followed.
The doorbell rang again, and Rose answered. This time, it was Paul. Her smile disappeared, and Paul's hope faded. Rose walked away, but Paul chased after her.
Outside, Sierra and Craig talked about their daughter, Lucy, who was on vacation in Brazil. Sierra told Craig she was waiting to tell Lucy of Bryant's death in person. Craig jockeyed for some input into that decision, saying, "I'm her parent too." Sierra sobbed back softly, "You may have fathered her, but you're hardly her parent." With that, she brushed past him back into the house.
Margo went outside, and Craig told her how much he wanted to hold Lucy again and that he didn't know what normal was anymore. Then he saw Billy, and he transformed back into his conniving, vengeful self. Craig slithered over to Billy and asked if they could take a walk. Doe-eyed Billy appeased Uncle Craig, and they strolled. After some small chit-chat, Craig asked Billy for a favor. He asked to keep his affair with Jennifer a secret. Billy agreed that was for the best.
Inside the house, Adam told Jennifer that he didn't want to fight anymore. Jennifer was happy about that and told him that maybe he should try to make up with Abigail, also. Adam found Abigail and told her what a total jerk he'd been lately, and he offered to both apologize to Nick and to thank him for all the help he'd given them on their project. Abigail liked that gesture and let Adam back into her heart. Billy returned from his talk with Craig and promptly broke up with a stunned Jennifer.
Isaac arrived with Bonnie on his arm, bringing flowers for Lucinda. Later, Isaac thanked Bonnie for encouraging him to attend, saying, "It was the right thing to do."
Simon and Katie arrived and made appearances throughout the room. At various stops, Simon pronounced with actions and words that he and his wife Katie were in love. This tipped Katie off her scale because she'd been waiting so long to hear those words come out of his mouth. It was icing on the cake that he had done it in public. She grabbed his hand and told him that if they didn't make love in the next few minutes, she'd burst. On the way out, however, the couple was greeted by two characters from Katie's recent past: Rainbow and Aretha. They said that Starshine, a.k.a. Katie, had skipped out from her duties of feeding the animals at the commune, and that was very uncool.
Saving the best for last, Paul finally cornered Rose and said he saw what he wanted and didn't understand why he couldn't have it. Rose said, "Look, I've got a million things to do." Paul said, "Stop! I've been thinking of a way to change your mind about how you feel about me, but I just need to be honest with you." Rose tried to divert his attention by saying, "I think you're being honest enough for the both of us." Paul was adamant about getting his point across, "No! No! This may not be the right place, and I'm sure this is not the right time, but -- what I'm trying to say is -- is that -- you -- me -- I --" Rose, in her blunt New Jersey accent said, "Spit it out, hon."
"Fine! I -- I've fallen in love with you," Paul said.

Rose pretended to faint after Paul told her that he was falling in love with her. As Lucinda and Mitzi tried to convince her to stay with Paul, Jack followed him outside to reveal that he had seen James Stenbeck. Jack also intimated that Barbara might have already known James was in town, and he told Paul that Barbara wouldn't listen to anybody. They agreed to meet in the morning, and Jack headed inside as headlights blinded Paul.
Craig insisted on being with Sierra when she told Lucy about her brother's death, but Sierra was adamant that he wouldn't. Craig was happy to see Carly, who finally told him she cared about him. Jack kept his cool when he saw the two together and offered Craig condolences. After telling Jennifer that it was not possible for them to be together, Billy told Sierra that he had changed his mind and would like to speak about Bryant. Despite Jennifer's efforts, he kept his relationship with her to himself, and she was appalled when she realized that Craig was behind his decision. Though there was tension in the room between himself, Billy, and Jen, Craig felt better after spending some time with Carly.
Jack told a relieved Rose that he hadn't spilled her past to Paul but warned that she should, since Paul would need her soon. She decided to tell him as soon as he joined her inside but stopped when Barbara followed him in. Barbara made veiled threats to Rose while Craig and Carly took potshots at her from across the room. Paul spoke to Carly about his conversation with Jack, and Barbara interrupted and told him to go get the car. She insulted Carly, but Craig jumped in to stop her.
Carly tried to keep the peace, and Barbara sniped that she didn't need a slut defending her and hustled out. She saw Paul speaking to Rose and ordered him to take her home. He told her she could leave or she could wait in the car until he was done with his conversation. Barbara remained, forcing Rose to tell Paul she didn't love him. Paul refused to accept that and said that they'd talk later.
After Bryant's funeral reception, Mitzi met up with Jack at Al's Diner. She told him how Barbara had stopped Rose from telling Paul about her past. She offered to help Jack go after James. Paul remained curious as to what Rose had planned to tell him before Barbara had walked in, and he refused to even look at his mother when she tried to talk to him.
In the back of Nancy's car, Simon and Katie embraced each other and talked about their wonderful night together. Katie said it had been the second-best night of her life but that the honeymoon was over, and they needed to get to the "main course" -- their marriage. Back at their Lakeview suite, Katie opened up an old trunk full of mementos and memories. Included in the trunk were embroidered towels, sheets, and some books. Simon picked up one book that happened to be Katie's journal that she had kept since she'd been seven years old.
Katie told Simon that her dad had died when she'd been a baby, so her way of talking to him would be to write down questions in a journal, and she believed he could hear her. She wrote down all of her dreams, and she said they were all coming true. She was happy that she had found a man who loved her and looked forward to getting a home and a real job. She told him they would have "the most perfect life in the world." Katie continued to go through her books, but Simon wasn't interested; he wanted to know what kind of job she'd had in mind.
Katie began to read about "mirroring" and wanted to talk about their future. She asked Simon what he heard when she talked about their future. Simon said that rather it was what he saw. He didn't picture himself wearing a tie, having to deal with time clocks and budget reports, but he did have an idea of what she would want.
In a dream sequence, Simon imagined the life he thought Katie would like, something like from the 1950s. Simon was dressed in a conservative suit; Katie was wearing a polka-dot puffy dress complete with pearls and a bouffant hairstyle. In the sequence, the couple had a bunch of little bunnies running around their home.
Simon was jolted back to reality when Katie hit him over the head with a book. "Don't make fun of me," she said, " I'm not a cartoon character. Sometimes you're such a man." Simon apologized, looked at her book, and tried to "mirror" with her. He asked her the same question -- how she believed Simon saw marriage.
In a dream sequence, something like Mission Impossible, Simon was wearing a blue jumpsuit, which he ripped off to reveal a sleek tuxedo underneath. Katie had long red hair and also wore the same jumpsuit, which she pulled off to reveal a sexy black outfit. The two shared a martini then talked about their days -- gambling, cracking secret codes, and being captured and almost painted gold. They agreed to travel on their jet and have dinner in Rome.
Simon told Katie they would find what worked for them. He said he couldn't completely change because he wouldn't be the man she'd fallen in love with. Simon took Katie's hands and told her he wanted to lead her to another adventure -- making love in their own bed. "Honey, I'm home," he said, and they kissed.
At Lucinda's home, Sierra told her mother that Lucy's tour group was delayed, so she would stay for the afternoon. She said she didn't know how to tell Lucy that her brother had died. They'd been close not only as siblings but also as friends. Lucinda asked if Craig was also going to Montega. Sierra told Lucinda no, and Lucinda replied by asking what kind of father he was.
At that moment, Craig was at the door. Sierra said to tell him she'd just stepped out. Lucinda decided to answer the door and told Craig that if she had her way, he would never see Lucy again. Craig told Lucinda that she didn't have a clue about his and Sierra's relationship -- they were Lucy's parents. Craig said, "I love my daughter." Lucinda said, "Just how you loved your son." Craig continued, "Don't doubt my love for my children. No one will keep me from my daughter."
Later, Sierra told her mother that she'd given Craig the impression that she'd wanted nothing to do with him. Sierra was mad that Lucinda had spoken for her and made it seem that she had left for Montega already. Sierra said, "You couldn't resist making it worse for him. You failed. You made me want to go to him and hold onto whatever family we have left." Lucinda put up her hands and shook her head.
Craig went over to Carly's place and told her he was going to Montega. Carly asked, "When are you and Sierra leaving?" Craig said he was going alone before Sierra could poison Lucy from him. Carly said he should give Sierra room to do things her way, then set Lucy straight when the time was right. Craig still felt guilty over Bryant's accident and didn't want to lose Lucy. Carly felt he should let Sierra grieve and that part of her grief was blaming Craig.
Craig told Carly he couldn't stop himself from thinking that if he picked up the phone, Bryant would answer it. He wanted to hold his daughter and never let her go. He said, "I want to feel like Lucy's dad again." Carly walked over to comfort Craig, who said he valued her advice. She said to take it and do something good with the day, like going to see Billy, who had seemed upset.
Craig said he'd already talked with Billy, and they had grown to understand each other. As Carly left, she agreed to dinner in the dining room with Craig. "It's just dinner," she told him. He replied, "Everything is negotiable, don't you know that?" Carly smiled.
At Java Underground, Rose and Mitzi arrived to see Paul, who was talking on the phone with Carly. Paul and Carly argued over her helping him to audition/interview models for the fashion show. He told her to keep her distance.
Jack walked in and talked to Paul about James Stenbeck. He told Paul that Barbara knew James was back and explained to Paul that he wanted Carly out of the company because it was too dangerous. Jack said, "You know how bad it can get; she doesn't." Paul felt that his mother had not been in contact with James. Jack said Barbara should know the truth about Carly and to not keep it a secret because James would then have the power. Jack said he was watching Paul's back as long as Carly was working for him. Paul asked Jack to let him know if anything more came out about James. Jack said, "You'll be the first. Some things aren't worth the risk, Paul."
Paul wanted to talk to Rose about the breakup. He reminded her that he was falling in love with her. He wanted to know what had changed because everything had been so good. He asked if she had been threatened because he knew that someone or something had gotten to her.
Rose decided to tell Paul the truth about her past. She said, "That girl you are falling in love with was once arrested for prostitution." She explained the story and asked what was going on in his head. He wanted to know what had happened that particular night at the Lakeview because the prostitution charge had happened a long time before. She responded that they'd been getting very close.
Paul thought there was more to it. He asked, "Did my mother have something to do with this? Did my mother have something to do with us breaking up?" Rose replied, "Yes, of course. She's rich and classy. Everything I'm not. I'm just Rose." Paul said, "I'm a guy who tried to kill his own father -- we all have baggage." They looked into each other's eyes and kissed.
Jennifer went to Java Underground, hoping that her mother would be there for the model auditions. She was upset to learn Barbara wouldn't be there. Bonnie tried to cheer her up and told her to forget about Billy. He was just a guy that had run in the other direction. Bonnie said it was "time to sizzle and shine." We were "bold and beautiful," "young and restless."
Bonnie convinced Jennifer to audition for the modeling job. She wore a short, tight, low-cut brown dress with high brown boots and hair teased out. BRO's publicist said Jennifer was "the ultimate Barbara Ryan original." The model search was over.
James and Barbara met at the gazebo. Barbara said that Jack knew James was back, and soon Paul would know. She regretted telling James about Rose but believed that Rose was out of her son's life. She felt good because BRO was launching a new line, and Barbara was confident that she would be in control again. James replied that she would be in control of nothing because she had no idea what was going on. He told her that she needed him and that without him, she would have nothing.
James reminded Barbara that Paul was also his son and had his blood running through him. Barbara said Paul was nothing like him and wanted James gone. Jack would tell Paul that James was back. James asked, "Who will keep your fragile world from falling apart?" Barbara yelled that she wouldn't let it fall apart. She turned her head and saw that James had disappeared.
Rose went to see Barbara and said she didn't want to play dirty but would if she had to. Barbara threatened Rose with the rap sheet again. Rose said she was only worried about her Pop, but she would be making up the rules. Rose said, "You thought Paul was in the palm of your hands. You don't know your son." Barbara said that Paul would drop Rose. Rose said she was holding the cards and calling the shots. She told Barbara to "make nice" and "lose the attitude," and maybe Rose would make sure that Paul didn't cut his mother out of his life completely.
Paul initially objected to Jennifer being the new BRO model, but Carly convinced him to offer his sister the job. He did so but said she might reconsider when she found out about his deal with Carly. Paul, swearing Jennifer to secrecy, told her that Carly was BRO's new top designer. He explained to Jennifer that Barbara was not yet back up to par with her designs, and in order for BRO to survive, it needed a new spring line. Jennifer said she needed time to think it over and went to see Barbara.
Rose confronted Barbara, telling her that Paul knew everything about her past. Rose ordered Barbara to stay out of their lives, or she would tell Paul the role Barbara had played in their breakup. Later, Barbara left James a message, letting him know that his plan to get Rose out of Paul's life had backfired, and she ordered him to stay away from her. Meanwhile, back at Java, James got his hands on one of Carly's sample dresses.
Sierra went to see Craig and apologized to him for Lucinda's lie. She told him that she was about to head home to tell Lucy about Bryant's death. Sierra still insisted that she inform Lucy about her brother's death without Craig there. Later, Carly showed up for her dinner date with Craig, and they shared a passionate kiss.
Adam and Abigail disagreed over which film they should submit to class for their project.
Meanwhile, Jake told Nick to explain to Abigail that Molly was not the reason he was ending their friendship. Nick agreed to Jake's request but then made a mysterious telephone call. A disguised woman later greeted Nick, and he informed her that their plan was working.
In his hotel room, Craig told Carly how attractive she was to him; she told him she wanted to look respectable. Craig let Carly know how much he appreciated her support of him since Bryant's death. They left for the Lakeview dining room.
At Java, Rose told Paul she wanted to spend the night with him at the Lakeview. He agreed, and they kissed. James, in disguise, saw them and got up to leave, looking very angry. As he left, he grabbed the sample dress Carly had forgotten when she'd been sidetracked by Paul and Jennifer. Paul wanted to call Barbara, but Rose stopped him, telling him that she had already spoken with Barbara. When Paul asked Rose how it had gone, she avoided telling him the truth and said her talk with Barbara had been fine, and she would no longer object to Paul seeing her.
Jennifer went to see Barbara to tell her that she had been chosen as the "Barbara Ryan Original" model. Barbara got really upset and wanted to know all the details. She asked Jennifer how Paul could do auditions, interviews, and any other publicity for BRO without clearing it with her. She insisted to Jennifer that Paul didn't know enough about running the business to do such things without her consent and help. Barbara calmed down somewhat when she found out that Jennifer was the chosen model, but she let Jennifer know that she thought modeling was not good enough for her and that she could be anything she chose to be. Barbara again questioned how Paul could do such things without letting her know first.
Jennifer told Barbara about Bryant signing his trust fund over to her. Barbara questioned her about why Bryant would do such a thing, and Jennifer told her the trust fund was the reason she and Bryant had broken up. She also told Barbara that Bryant had given her the trust fund because he hadn't wanted Craig to get his hands on it again. Barbara told Jennifer that she had so much money, she wouldn't need to model, but Jennifer told Barbara that she was giving the trust fund money back to her. Barbara was astonished and asked if Jennifer had told Craig or anyone about the trust fund.
Jennifer let Barbara know that she'd told Bonnie and Abigail but assured Barbara they wouldn't tell anyone. Jennifer also told her mother that Craig had been trying to borrow more money from Bryant the night he'd died. Barbara told Jennifer that she was beautiful because she was beautiful inside. Jennifer let Barbara know she hoped that she could begin to get past her mistakes, but Barbara said she was too young to have any regrets. Jennifer tried to kiss her mother, but Barbara turned her face away. Jennifer's feelings were hurt, so she told her mother goodbye and left. Barbara suddenly became gleeful as she contemplated telling Craig what had happened to the trust fund.
Paul and Rose went to the Lakeview, where he ordered Champagne. Rose told Paul he was her gift, and it really blew her away when he didn't care about her former prostitution charge. Just then, Craig and Carly walked in and sat at the next table. They exchanged a few unpleasant words, and Rose excused herself to go to the powder room. Craig asked Carly and Paul if Rose knew they were working behind Barbara's back.
Carly got angry with Craig and got up to leave. Paul told Craig to back off and stop trying to embarrass him in front of Rose. Rose returned, and the two couples went back to their own tables. Rose and Paul made a toast to a wonderful future, and she then asked Paul what Craig could possibly see in a tramp like Carly. Carly warned Craig that he was messing with her life, and if he wanted to continue to be around her, he had better butt out. Craig began to smile and told Carly that he knew she was there because she wanted to be, and he thanked her for saving him from being alone.
Rose decided she wanted to leave the restaurant and go upstairs with Paul. Just as they were getting ready to leave, Barbara showed up. Craig spotted her and asked Carly if she was there because Paul had told her about substituting Carly's designs for hers. Carly told him to shut up. Barbara went over to Paul and told him she would wait up for him to get home and then walked over to the table where Craig and Carly were. She told Craig that she wanted to talk to him alone. Craig reluctantly agreed to go upstairs to his suite to talk.
After Craig left, Paul asked Rose to go ahead upstairs because he wanted to talk to Carly. He asked Carly what was going on with Barbara and Craig, but she insisted that she didn't know, either. Carly then asked Paul if he had seen the sample dress she'd taken to Java for one of their models to try on. He told her no but agreed to call Java to find it. When he returned, he let Carly know that no one could find the dress, and he had no more time to look for it because Rose was waiting for him upstairs.
Jennifer met Abigail at Al's, and they talked about their problems. Jennifer told Abigail about becoming a model and wanting to share her excitement with her mother. She complained to Abigail that instead of being happy for her, Barbara was too wrapped up in her own problems and why Paul had not let her know what he was up to. Abigail told Jennifer about Molly and how difficult she had been about Nick. She was very proud of her videotape and told Jennifer she couldn't share it with Molly because of the way Molly felt about Nick.
Jennifer asked Abigail if she had a crush on Nick, but Abigail said no, that she saw Nick as more of a mentor. Just then, Billy walked in. Billy tried to have a friendly conversation with Jennifer and Abigail, but Jennifer got mad and ran off, telling Billy that she refused to pretend that they'd never meant anything to each other. Billy and Abigail talked for a while, and he told her that he loved Jennifer. Abigail advised Billy to treat Jennifer as someone special if that was the way he really felt about her.
Upstairs, Barbara showed Craig the trust fund papers and told him what Bryant and Jennifer had done. Craig was unhappy about the news and told Barbara that Bryant had wanted him to use the money from his trust. Barbara gloated over the fact that the trust fund money was hers, and Craig couldn't get his hands on it. She told Craig that Bryant had wanted anyone but him to have the money and that his last telephone call had been meant to let Craig know how much he had loathed him.
Craig ordered Barbara to leave and warned her that it was later than she thought. When she demanded to know what he meant, Craig told her she could find out on her own. Just then, Carly interrupted them and asked Craig if she should just go home and order a pizza. Barbara told Craig and Carly they deserved each other, and she left. Carly asked Craig what kind of terrible things Barbara had said to him. Instead of answering, Craig told Carly to go home, kiss Parker, and make sure that he knew his mother loved him, because one day, it might be too late. He asked Carly to promise him that she would never take a moment with her son for granted.
Paul found Rose had changed into a sexy black negligee in the hotel room they had rented. She asked Paul what was so special about her, and he told her he loved her wicked sense of humor, her courage, her honesty, her eyes, and her smell. They shared a passionate kiss and moved to the bed.
Barbara arrived home and went to the gazebo, calling for Paul. She found the sample dress James had left there and realized that it was not one of her designs.
