Jack meets Jennifer at DotCom. They celebrate their exclusive on the return of Tony DiMera. Jennifer tells Jack she now wants to do a front page story on the meteor shower.
Victor and Philip are also at DotCom. Philip refuses to work in order to pay for the broken window. He explains to Victor that he wants to be with Chloe as much as possible. Victor makes a call canceling the check for Philip's tuition. Philip calls Victors bluff and says that's fine with him. He tries to make his father understand that he truly loves Chloe and that she's all that matters right now. Victor sees that Philip is sincere and says he'll write a check to cover the damages. He also asks if there is anything he can do for Chloe. Once Philip leaves, Jack approaches Victor and asks what information Victor has on Colin. Victor denies knowing anything about him and walks off. Jack knows Victor is lying and plans on pursuing the matter.
Jennifer is cornered by Nicole who wants to know if she's the reason Colin dumped her. Jennifer lets Nicole know that she had absolutely nothing to do with it. Knowing that Victor is messing with her, Nicole plots her revenge. Jennifer and Jack make arrangements to meet later at the Brady/Horton BBQ.
Nicole approaches Victor and flirts with him. She convinces him to go along with her.
Philip, Mimi and Kevin are at DotCom discussing being tested in order to help Chloe when Cynthia enters. Philip is not happy to see her, but Cynthia insists on speaking with him. She asks if she can be tested to see if she's able to help Chloe. Philip changes his attitude towards Cynthia and thanks her.
Roman and Bo fear that John is going to take the law into his own hands when it comes to dealing with Tony DiMera. They try to figure out why Tony has returned to Salem. Roman decides to have the DiMera mansion watched 24/7.
John searches the mansion. He comes across a desk that has a false bottomed drawer in it. As he begins to open it, Tony comes down the stairs! Tony hears a noise and goes to check it out, but John manages to escape in time. Once outside John calls Marlena and asks her to meet him at the police station. Once there John announces that he knows what Tony is up to. He also tells everyone that Colin went back to the mansion. Marlena defends Colin to the men. John shows everyone the key he took from the desk. As they discuss what the key could be for Marlena is berated for being willing to give Tony the benefit of the doubt. John is hoping that Tony will come after him. Roman warns John not to go after Tony alone.
They are interrupted when Shane calls. The ISA was unable to determine that the remains were indeed that of Stefano. However the exhumation of the body in the grave proved to be that of Andre DiMera. So it would seem that everything Tony has said to the police is true. They all decide to take a break from the case and plan on meeting later at the BBQ.
Tony is positive that someone was just in the house. He searches the desk, sees that the key is missing and freaks out! He's very afraid that his plans will all be ruined. Bart comes in and introduces himself to Tony who is not impressed. He orders Bart to find out what has happened. Bart goes over the videotapes and tells Tony that there is no evidence of any break in. Bart asks about the contents of the box, but all Tony will say is that it contains his past and possibly his future. Tony then asks to see every secret that the mansion contains. Inside the security room, Tony asks to see last night's tape for the living room. When the men discover that the camera has been tampered with Tony is ticked off. He goes to leave the room, but is stopped by something he hears...
Nicole brings Victor to Lookout Point. She surprises him with a picnic and plans for a romantic evening. She sends Victor to the car for the picnic things. Once he's gone she gets ready to set her plan in motion...
Everyone begins to arrive for the Brady/Horton 4th of July BBQ. Jack wants to ask around for info on Tony, but Jennifer tells him to relax and enjoy the party. They agree that between Tony's return and the coming meteor shower, that anything can happen!
Roman tells John to keep him in the loop in regards to any info he may find on Tony's reasons for returning to town. He's willing to give John some latitude, but won't let him get away with too much. John agrees, but doesn't really intend to honor the request.
The knuckle cracking mystery man looks in on the gathering.
Turns out Tony is hearing the discussions at the BBQ via the bugged Jack in the box!
On Independence Day, Chloe and Philip watch the fireworks from Chloe's hospital room. Nancy and Craig meet with a private investigator to locate Chloe's biological father, hoping that he can donate bone marrow. Bart and Tony overhear John telling Roman about the key from the DiMera mansion, confirming their suspicion that John stole the key from Tony's desk. Colin shows up and tries to discuss business with Tony, but he refuses to answer his questions. When Colin confronts Bo, he admits to having Colin followed. Belle informs everyone about the drive for bone marrow, and Jack and Jennifer volunteer to print information about the drive in their newspaper.
Nicole kisses Victor, caressing and guiding him slowly to the edge of the cliff. Distracted by the meteor shower, she falls over the cliff and clings to the edge. Victor instructs her to grab his hands and drags her back to solid ground. Later, he informs Nicole that he knows she planned to kill him. When Nicole denies it, he tells her that one day she will realize how much she loves him. Shocked to see a meteor headed toward Salem, everyone runs for cover. Shawn and Belle trip on the telescope and tumble to the ground.
