Nelle Catches on to Felicia
Felicia found Nelle at Metro Court and eagerly gave her additional samples for Nelle's bedroom makeover. Felicia began to talk about various color patterns but thought she really needed Nelle's history to make it all work. Nelle revealed that her family wasn't from Georgia, but she had lived there for a number of years. Felicia noted that Nelle didn't have an accent, and Nelle confided that she'd worked hard to get rid of it. Learning that Nelle was originally from Florida, Felicia commented that Bobbie Spencer was from Florida also. When her phone began to ring, Felicia excused herself from the table. She told Bobbie that Nelle was from Florida, and she hadn't learned anything about the boyfriend.
As Nelle waited for Felicia to return, Michael stopped at the table. He was on his way to a hospital board meeting. Nelle explained that Felicia had offered to redesign her bedroom for her interior design portfolio. Michael was surprised. He hadn't been aware that Felicia was involved with interior decorating. Nelle was hopeful that the situation wouldn't be awkward for Michael, since she understood that Felicia and Michael's grandmother hated each other. Again, Michael was taken by surprise. He explained the women's history and noted that Felicia and Bobbie were "thick as thieves" and best friends.
It was Nelle's turn to be taken aback. She realized that Felicia owed Maxie's life to Bobbie and that Felicia would probably do anything for Bobbie for that reason. Michael left, and Felicia returned from her phone call. She wanted to talk more color and history, but Nelle suggested they talk about her boyfriend instead, since she merely wanted to declutter and organize her bedroom. Nelle announced that her unavailable boyfriend might soon be available and moving in.
Across the room, Lulu met Valentin and offered an apology for what had happened at the Crimson office. Valentin disagreed that Lulu was sorry but felt she was selfish instead. He felt that Lulu only cared about herself and not Charlotte, who had suffered trauma after Lulu's actions. Lulu replied that she had made a mistake but had only wanted to be with Charlotte. Valentin rejected her apology. Lulu called him a hypocrite and wondered how he would explain the fact that he had killed Lulu's brother to Charlotte. Valentin stated that the truth was subjective, and history was written by the victors. He knew that Charlotte would understand.
Sonny and Carly cozied up at Greystone Manor but as they danced around the room, the mood grew somber. Carly recalled Morgan's "Happy Feet," and the couple reminisced about their son. They spoke about feeling as if they were betraying Morgan if they felt any happiness, but they felt happy with each other. Their embrace led upstairs to the bedroom, where they made love.
Later, Sonny revealed that he'd gone after Ava, who had appeared to be their son's killer. He had planned on shooting her, but Jason had shown up to save her and had most likely taken her to the police station. Carly began to get dressed. She wanted to kill Ava herself for causing the death of her son. Sonny blocked Carly from leaving and making an awful mistake, though he felt like an impostor, since he had almost done the same thing.
Sonny advised Carly that they had to know without any doubt that Ava had been the person behind the car bombing. Jason had said that it hadn't been Ava, but Sonny felt that something was going on. Ava had told Sonny that she'd regretted something, and Sonny would have to find out what that was. She was still behind Morgan's death in some way, as far as he was concerned. Carly headed to the bathroom to splash water on her face, and Sonny spotted the fancy bra planted by the back of the bed.
Jordan welcomed Julian to the police station and notified him that all charges against Sonny had been dropped. Julian was shocked. Jordan asked Julian about his daily activities, and he proceeded to outline his day. He made no mention of anywhere he'd been other than Metro Court. Jordan asked if he'd picked up some ginseng or lotus root at the remedy shop because she had a recording of him being there. His own sister had tried to kill him, and he'd known all along, she accused.
Jordan played the recording, but Julian denied that it was his voice. "Is that your face?" Jordan asked as she then showed him the photo that had been taken at the same time. She asked for his cooperation and said she would in turn not file obstruction charges against him. "I'm the victim," Julian declared. Jordan pointed out that the recording proved that Sonny hadn't been responsible for the car bombing. Julian contended that someone had tried to kill him. Jordan replied that it had been Ava, and he'd never named her. Julian demanded that he be arrested or let go.
In the interrogation room, Dante questioned Ava. She had no idea what Dante kept referring to and told him to ask Julian about it. Dante asked about her day, and she responded that she'd gone to work and been accosted by Sonny. Dante accused her of loving Morgan but not helping them, so Ava went into more detail. Her story checked out via Ava's assistant, but there was an hour lapse in her morning. Ava claimed to have gone home to pick up some contracts.
Dante played the recording of Julian and showed Ava the photo of the blonde woman. Ava insisted that it wasn't her. Just then, she saw Julian out in the main lobby and went out to talk to him. Ava announced that the cops had mistaken her. "You did nothing wrong," Julian answered. He left.
Ava was perplexed. Dante suggested an audio lineup, since their witness had heard the voice of Rudge's boss. Ava vowed to go after Sonny once she was cleared of any wrongdoing.
Buzz was given headphones, and a handful of women lined up to speak into the microphone. Jordan asked if he'd recognized the voice, and he asked to listen to one of the women again. It was Ava.
Olivia was on the phone at General Hospital when Anna heard her voice from across the hallway. Olivia's back was to Anna but she gave a start and had a flashback to Anna looking for revenge many years in the past. Anna walked toward Olivia but stopped short. Suddenly, she had a horrific migraine and dropped her pills. Her headache was so bad that her vision was altered.
Olivia walked near and kicked the bottle of pills out of Anna's reach then picked up a sharp instrument in case it was needed. Anna begged for the person standing nearby to help her. Just then, Julian sent Olivia an emergency text message. "I'll be seeing you, Anna," Olivia murmured as she walked off.
Anna was still down on the floor, searching for her pills, when a man walked over and picked them up. He handed her the bottle and got her a glass of water. "I know you, don't I?" Anna asked the man. It was Carl Browning, the man who had trained with her and Valentin in the WSB. Anna thanked him for finding his way to Port Charles to help her so quickly. He told her that it was in her best interest to keep her distance from Valentin.
Browning advised Anna that Valentin's file had been redacted, and Valentin had disappeared years earlier. Anna couldn't believe that Valentin hated her from a rejected kiss. The man informed her that it was much more than that. Valentin had been put on a hit list, and Anna had been the one to put him there. Valentin had cause to hate her, Browning stated. Anna tried to rack her brain. She couldn't remember.
Julian met with Olivia at her place. He advised her that the cops had identified her secret location, and they were "breathing down my neck." They had a recording of their conversation with him talking about his sister, Julian continued. They even had a photo. "You idiot," Olivia yelled. She slapped Julian's face hard. She wondered how her brother could be so stupid. Julian assured her that only the back of her head was in the photo, and the cops thought that it was Ava. "Of course they do," Olivia said. She told her brother to be prepared.
At Olivia Jerome's secret hideout, Olivia shared an old Chinese proverb about being prepared, but Julian wanted to know what she'd done. Olivia flashed a smug smile as she shared that she'd had Rudge reach out to a man named Buzz. Olivia's tone lacked sincerity as she talked about Buzz's unfortunate circumstances that had left him living on the streets, but she assured Julian that Buzz was more than a "random indigent."
Later, Olivia ended a call, asking to be notified when "it" was done. Julian desperately wanted to know what his sister was up to, so she admitted that she'd arranged for Buzz to plant a tracking device in Julian's car, but things had gotten complicated when Buzz had realized that it had been the bomb that had killed Morgan. Olivia explained that Buzz had fled town, but he'd had a change of heart and had returned to help her -- but not Ava. Stunned, Julian reminded Olivia that Ava was their sister, but Olivia didn't care because she wanted Julian to know how serious she was about protecting herself and getting her hands on the hospital.
Julian pointed out that he couldn't get the job done overnight, but Olivia wasn't satisfied. Julian warned her not to pin her hopes on the word of a homeless man, either, because the police would quickly see through Buzz's lies and make their way straight to Olivia's door. Olivia revealed that she had put something in place that would "boost" the case against Ava. Worried, Julian once again reminded Olivia that Ava was their sister, but Olivia recalled how close she and Julian had once been -- until he'd decided to murder her and the man she loved. Olivia insisted that it was Julian's fault that his family was in shambles, but she admitted that she wished that she didn't have to use them to force him to do her bidding.
Julian changed tactics and reminded Olivia that it wasn't too late to have the family and life that she'd always dreamed of; she just had to drop her vendetta. Olivia smiled wistfully as she admitted that she'd always dreamed of being an "eccentric" aunt to her nieces and nephews, but her smile faded as she reminded Julian that his family despised him and would never accept her. Julian blamed Olivia for ruining his relationship with his loved ones, but she insisted that he'd deserved it. Julian wondered if Olivia truly believed that Ava deserved to pay for Olivia's crimes, but Olivia reminded him that their sister had gotten away with crimes in the past. She made it clear that she would not let him ruin her plans.
Julian tried to get Olivia to open up about her master plan, but she remained tightlipped. He wondered what else she could possibly do to ruin his life, but Olivia merely smiled and dismissed him by handing him his coat. Julian wanted an answer, but Olivia smiled and told him to sleep well.
In the interrogation room, Ava objected to Dante's request that she participate in a voice "lineup." Dante pushed until Ava reluctantly complied. "Kill the homeless loser who planted the bomb," Ava repeated into a microphone. She stood up with the intention of leaving, but Dante ordered her to wait because they needed to know if the witness could identify her voice. Ava assured Dante that she was innocent.
In the squad room, Jordan handed Buzz a set of headphones then donned a set of her own. Buzz listened to Ava and immediately tensed. He assured Jordan that it was the voice of the woman who'd ordered him to plant the bomb that had killed Morgan. Jordan acknowledged that he'd asked to hear the voice for a second time, but she wanted to be sure that he was certain. Buzz was adamant that the woman he'd identified had been responsible for the bomb and became upset at the idea that she might discover that he'd turned against her. Jordan promised to keep Buzz safe and had several police officers escort him away.
Moments later, Jordan entered the interrogation room and informed Ava that the witness had identified Ava as the person responsible for planning a hit against Julian that had killed Morgan. Stunned, Ava argued that the witness had been wrong, but Jordan assured Ava that the witness had been fully vetted and was reliable. Ava insisted that the man had lied and demanded to know what was going on. Jordan took delight when she told Ava that teams were scouring Ava's apartment, the herbal shop where Ava and Julian had secretly met, and Ava's art gallery for evidence.
Later, Ava warned Jordan that the search had been a waste of time and taxpayer money because Ava had never tried to kill Julian. Ava accused Jordan of police harassment because they had let Sonny get away with trying to kill Ava earlier that evening. Jordan rolled her eyes and asked if anyone had witnessed the incident. Ava reluctantly admitted that Jason had been present, but Ava realized it was unlikely that he'd turn against Sonny. Jordan suggested they focus on one investigation at a time and decided the case against Ava was more important. Ava reiterated that she was innocent and suggested that perhaps Julian had meant something else when he'd referred to his "sister."
A short time later, Dante returned to announce that evidence had been recovered and sent to the lab for testing. However, Dante found a copy of the lease agreement for the Chinese herbal shop and slapped it down on the table to show Ava that her signature was on the lease. Ava was shocked and more certain than ever that she'd been framed. Ava reminded both Jordan and Dante that there hadn't been any reason for her and Julian to have a clandestine meeting, since they lived together, but Jordan was certain it had been an elaborate ruse to cast doubt in case Ava and Julian were caught.
Later, Ava urged Jordan to track down Julian because Ava was certain that her brother would clear everything up. Ava admitted that Julian had recently been worried about a mystery woman, but Ava knew nothing about her. However, Ava was certain that Ava had been set up by the police because Jordan's ex-brother-in-law Curtis had been at the studio earlier in the day, pretending to be interested in a piece of art. Ava suspected that Jordan had asked Curtis to plant incriminating evidence against Ava. Moments later, Dante entered to reveal that Ava's DNA had been found on a martini glass recovered from the Chinese herbal shop. Stunned, Ava begged Jordan to find Julian.
At Elizabeth's house, Elizabeth tried to snuggle with Franco on the sofa, but she quickly grew restless and picked up the remote to turn off the movie. She explained that she couldn't relax, knowing that her patients needed her. Franco was confident that the board would realize how important Elizabeth and the nurses were to the hospital and change their minds about laying the nurses off. Franco smiled as he reminded her that she had another patient to focus on and playfully grabbed her around the waist to pull her back into his lap. Elizabeth smiled and admitted that he seemed stronger. She kissed him until the doorbell rang.
Franco and Elizabeth were surprised she had a late-night visitor, but she decided to answer the door. Franco objected, but Elizabeth ignored him and opened the door. Griffin greeted Elizabeth and entered as he explained that he'd heard about the conflict between the board and the nurses. Franco coldly greeted Griffin and cut to the chase by asking why the priest was there. Griffin pulled out a bottle of pain medicine and handed it to Franco as Griffin explained that he'd intended to give it to Elizabeth at work until he'd heard about the "sick-out." Griffin knew that Franco had suffered considerable pain during the ordeal with Tom's brother and thanked Franco for saving Elizabeth because she was the best surgical nurse Griffin had ever worked with.
Elizabeth smiled with embarrassment as she thanked Griffin for the praise, but Franco grew increasingly hostile and did his best to remind Griffin that Elizabeth was with Franco. Griffin politely ignored Franco's tone and wished Elizabeth luck because he hoped the nurses prevailed. After Griffin left, Elizabeth made her ire known. "Are we really doing this again?" she asked as Franco returned to the sofa. Elizabeth's phone rang, but she ignored it because she wanted to settle things with Franco and find out why he continued to be insecure even though she'd made it clear that she was with him. Elizabeth admitted that Franco's behavior had been embarrassing.
Franco acknowledged that he'd been jealous, but he explained that it was clear that Griffin was romantically interested in Elizabeth. Elizabeth promised that Griffin was not any competition. Franco admitted that he didn't want to be jealous, but Elizabeth feared that she'd given Franco reason to feel insecure. Franco insisted that he was the happiest he'd ever been and promised that she hadn't done anything wrong. Elizabeth's phone continued to ring despite her efforts to ignore it, so Franco urged her to answer it. Elizabeth refused because she wanted to work things out, but Franco preferred to discuss it later.
After Elizabeth ended the call, she explained that the hospital was in chaos. Franco wasn't thrilled at the idea of her returning to work, but he shifted gears and apologized for the way he'd acted when "Father Griffin" had stopped by. Elizabeth warned Franco that he'd eventually have to tell her why he felt so threatened by other men. Franco agreed then distracted her with a passionate kiss.
At Greystone Manor, Sonny stood in his bedroom and looked at the bra that Nelle had planted in his bed. "Nelle, you bitch," he growled as he heard Carly call out to him. Sonny managed to hide the bra before Carly appeared in the doorway. She admitted that learning about Ava's arrest had been a lot to process, but she conceded that they'd have to wait to find out if Ava had indeed been the mastermind behind the hit, since Jason had doubts about Ava's involvement. Sonny promised Carly that he'd get to the bottom of things for her.
Satisfied, Carly decided to head home to spend time with Michael and Josslyn. Sonny asked her to let him know how things went, prompting Carly to ask if he intended to step out, since his house arrest had been lifted. Sonny admitted that he wanted to get out, but he was evasive about his destination other than to tell her that he intended to start with a visit to Morgan's grave. Carly asked Sonny to wait until she could accompany him the following day because she didn't think it would be a good idea for Sonny to be at Morgan's graveside alone at night. Sonny agreed and kissed his wife goodbye. He waited until he'd heard the door open then close before he pulled out Nelle's bra. "Nelle, Nelle, Nelle," Sonny slowly said.
At Metro Court Restaurant, Nelle read the card she'd enclosed with the flowers she'd bought for herself. "Thinking of you. S." Nelle read as a soft smile spread across her lips. She was certain that it would be enough to intrigue her intended victim. Michael walked up and greeted her. Nelle pasted on a smile as she admitted that his mother wasn't around and pointed out that the restaurant was closed. Michael explained that his meeting had been canceled and asked if it was possible to get something to drink that would help clear his conscience because he'd agreed to support the layoffs.
Nelle reminded Michael that he hadn't had a choice in the matter, but Michael argued that he'd be laying off good people. He questioned if the ends truly justified the means, but he realized that Nelle had likely never grappled with that question. Nelle conceded that she'd made some questionable choices in the past that she'd regretted, but Michael wondered if she'd ever made excuses for her actions. Nelle thought it was human nature to convince oneself that they were doing the right thing -- even knowing it would hurt a lot of people. Michael agreed, but he added that it didn't make things right. Moments later Michael received a text message and revealed that he had to leave.
Michael thanked Nelle for "commiserating," but he doubted that the things that kept her up at night were as bad as she'd feared. Michael was confident that she'd had her reasons for her "misdeeds." After Michael left, Nelle glanced at the flowers.
Later, Nelle was about to leave when Sonny entered. She greeted him with a smile, but it soon became clear that he was not in a pleasant mood. Nelle was startled when he held up her bra, but she quickly recovered and feigned surprise as she nervously asked if Carly had seen it. Sonny shook his head, but he wasn't fooled by Nelle's act and accused her of planting the bra in his bed when she'd retrieved Morgan's tax forms for the foundation. Sonny was furious that Nelle had used his dead son as an excuse to set up Carly. Nelle tried to deny it, but Sonny knew better and accused her of being a problem. "And you know how I solve problems?" Sonny asked in a menacing tone as he gently stroked her face.
Nelle went on the defensive and tearfully asked why Sonny was "attacking" her. She assured him that she'd hated that they'd slept together, but he'd been in the wrong because he'd cheated on his wife. Sonny clarified that it had been a drunken mistake until Nelle had stepped things up by planting the bra in his bed. Sonny knew Nelle wasn't as innocent as she wanted people to believe, but he warned her not to become his enemy. Nelle turned up the tears, but Sonny ignored them as he warned her to stay away from his home and family. Sonny promised that if Nelle showed her face at the house, then she'd have to deal with the consequences -- which wouldn't be as simple as taking a job in Atlanta.
Nelle nodded and tearfully apologized for the misunderstanding. Sonny scoffed and vowed to make certain that it wouldn't happen again. After Sonny left, Nelle wiped away the tears and angrily tossed the bra onto the bar's counter. She pulled out her phone and listened to the incriminating remarks she'd recorded when Sonny had first asked her to keep quiet about their one-night stand. Nelle was determined to keep it together -- so she could tell Carly everything.
At the nurses' station, Hayden was busy on the phone when Finn walked up to let her know that he had a patient who needed a new I.V. Hayden explained that they were understaffed, prompting Finn to jokingly ask if she had fired all of the nurses. Hayden explained that the nurses had gotten wind of the plans and had decided to stage a "sick-out," which was a step down from a strike and had paralyzed the hospital. Hayden informed Finn that he would have to attend to his patients and take care of their needs until she could find a solution. Annoyed, Finn walked away.
Moments later, Finn opened his medicine bottle and realized that he only had one pain pill left. He decided to cut it in half, but half the pill slid off the cart and fell on the floor. Finn desperately searched for the missing half of the pill but failed. He stood up, popped the other half of the pain pill into his mouth then used his wet fingers to gather the powder residue from the cart and licked his fingers clean. Finn resumed his search until Griffin walked up and asked what Finn had been doing. Finn claimed that he'd spilled the last of his pain medications then grumbled about his back pain and having a long night ahead of him because of the situation with the nurses. Griffin suggested that Finn contact his regular doctor, but Finn insisted that things were far too hectic.
Finn and Griffin rounded a corner as Carly exited the elevator. She immediately stopped the doctors to ask if they'd seen her son because she'd heard that there had been trouble with the hospital. Finn and Griffin filled her in about the layoffs and pointed to the nurses' station where Michael and Hayden were talking. After Carly walked away, Finn became agitated because he had no idea where the nurses kept the new I.V. lines. Griffin retrieved a package from a nearby cart and handed it to Finn, but Finn was too agitated and didn't seem to have the patience to properly unravel it. Griffin decided to help Finn out and asked to be taken to the patient.
At the nurses' station, Michael was curious why Hayden had sent him an urgent text message. She told him that all of the nurses had been calling in sick -- and would continue to -- until the board promised not to lay anyone off. Michael advised her to take a deep breath and promised to call his grandmother, Bobbie, but Hayden told him that Bobbie had called in sick too. Hayden decided to see if she could get the orderlies to work double shifts and walked away.
Moments later, Carly greeted Michael. They talked about the situation at the hospital until Carly shifted gears and revealed that she'd stopped by to tell him about Ava's arrest. Michael was stunned, but Carly admitted that Jason had doubts about Ava's guilt. Michael's mood improved when Carly added that all the charges against Sonny had been dropped because a witness had stepped forward to clear Sonny. They talked about Sonny's confrontation with Ava and about Dante covering for Sonny before Carly admitted that she was glad that Sonny finally had his life back.
Michael was certain that Morgan would be happy that Sonny and Carly had decided to work on their marriage. Carly agreed. She realized that there would be both good and bad days, but she hoped that one day she and Sonny would be able to look up at the stars and believe that Morgan was a part of the universe.
In the locker room, Hayden was surprised when Amy appeared and offered to help. Hayden was suspicious, but Amy claimed that the patients were more important than the fight between the nurses and the hospital's board. Hayden smiled knowingly because she knew Amy had only shown up to get her old job back. Amy acknowledged that Hayden was right, so Hayden warned Amy that she would be hated by the nurses more than Hayden would. Amy didn't care as long as she had a contract that would guarantee her a job despite the layoffs. Hayden agreed to Amy's terms.
At Wyndemere, Valentin was on the phone with Nina as he finished getting ready for the evening. Nina was eager for her husband to join her in the hotel suite and advised him to make it quick before the smoke from the candles triggered the smoke alarms. Valentin chuckled because he was certain that whatever Nina was wearing -- or not wearing -- would more likely set off the smoke alarms. Nina smiled as she sprinkled rose petals on the floor, but Valentin noticed Charlotte enter the room and quickly ended the call. Charlotte informed her father that she had no intention of spending the night at her nanny‘s. Concerned, Valentin asked why his daughter was upset, but she gave him a heart-shaped card and wished him a happy Valentine's Day.
Valentin smiled at the handmade card and admitted that he recognized himself, Nina, and Charlotte, but he was curious who the blonde woman was in the upper corner of the card. He assumed it was Lulu, but Charlotte scowled and told him that it was "my mommy." Charlotte asked if he thought Claudette watched over them from heaven. Valentin assured Charlotte that he was certain of it then shifted gears to ask her to help fix his tie because he wanted to look good for Nina.
After Charlotte straightened the tie, Valentin showed her the Valentine's Day gift he'd bought for Nina. Charlotte was impressed with the sparkling diamond and asked if it was an engagement ring. Valentin confirmed that it was and added that he and Nina were an unconventional couple, so they tended to do things differently than others. Valentin surprised Charlotte with another gift that he‘d hoped to give Charlotte when Nina was with them. Charlotte's eyes rounded with delight as she opened a small box and Valentin lifted out a gold bracelet with emeralds because they were Charlotte's birthstone. Moments later, Valentin and Charlotte left, but Valentin was unaware that he'd forgotten Nina's ring on the table.
At Metro Court Restaurant, Andre joined Anna at the bar and expressed curiosity about why she'd asked to see him. Anna explained that she'd just had a "troubling meeting" with World Security Agent, Karl Browning. Anna rubbed her forehead and winced, prompting Andre to ask if she was okay. Anna admitted that she had a migraine, but she assured him that she'd taken medicine and decided to give the tablets a boost with a sip of alcohol. Anna promised not to keep Andre too long because she imagined that he had plans with Jordan, but he‘d managed to hide his reaction at the mention of Jordan's name and asked about Anna's meeting with Karl.
Anna revealed that Karl had told her that she'd sanctioned Valentin's death, but she quickly added that she had no memory of the event. She was horrified that she'd put a friend on the WSB hit list and couldn't imagine why she'd done it. Andre and Anna discussed putting her back under hypnosis to dig for answers, but Anna had concerns because the discovery about ordering Valentin's death had felt different than when she'd first met Valentin. Anna explained that she'd felt a familiarity when she‘d met Valentin, but nothing about Karl's revelation had triggered any sense of remembrance. Andre suggested that perhaps her psyche had repressed the memory to protect her. He conceded that hypnosis was a gamble, but he thought Anna should consider it.
Moments later, Anna overheard Nina ask a waiter for a new brand of Champagne because she preferred something more "sophisticated" than the hotel's package had offered. Nina gave the waiter her room number and added that her husband would be arriving soon so she needed the Champagne quickly. After Nina walked away, Anna turned her attention back to Andre and assured him that she would think about trying hypnosis again. Anna picked up the bill and paid it as she asked about Andre and Jordan's plans for the evening.
Anna was surprised when Andre revealed that he and Jordan had ended things. Anna suddenly recalled his mood the other day and asked if that was why he'd seemed troubled. Andre nodded, but he added that he hadn't been ready to discuss what had happened. Anna offered to lend him an ear, but he declined because he wanted to find a place that wasn't dedicated to couples. Anna promised that she would be available anytime he wanted to talk and left.
Later, Nina began to worry because Valentin was late. She was curious what had kept him.
At Wyndemere, Anna broke into the castle and quickly disarmed the alarm system. She rubbed her forehead in an attempt to ease the pain in her head then donned a set of gloves. Anna made it to the living room doors, but ran out of energy as she slid to the ground in exhaustion and retrieved a flashlight and a listening device. She debated where to plant device and went to work, but Valentin caught her in the act when he returned to fetch Nina's Valentine's Day gift. Valentin was outraged that Anna had been trying to plant a listening device in his home.
According to Valentin, he'd been an open book with Anna and claimed that he had nothing to hide, but Anna was desperate for answers and asked why he‘d left the WSB. Valentin resented Anna's attitude because it implied that he'd been so insignificant to her that she'd forgotten. Anna insisted that she didn't know and implored him to tell her why she had wanted him dead. "Because I trusted you," Valentin shouted in frustration. Stunned, Anna rubbed her head and asked him to tell her everything, but Valentin refused to cooperate. Seconds later, Anna suddenly collapsed at his feet.
"Anna," Valentin called out with concern. Anna remained unresponsive, so Valentin picked her up and carried her out the door to get her help.
At Metro Court Restaurant, Lulu offered to cancel their plans with Maxie and Nathan because she knew that Dante had a lot on his mind. Dante assured her that it wasn't necessary. He and Lulu talked about Ava's arrest until their conversation turned to Charlotte because Lulu was certain Valentin had been laying in wait for Lulu to make another mistake. Dante joked about what a happy couple they were which made Lulu smile.
Nearby, Maxie and Nathan arrived to meet Dante and Lulu, but Maxie made it clear that she didn't want Lulu to know that Nina had fired Maxie. Nathan warned Maxie that Lulu would eventually learn the truth, but Maxie didn't want the news to ruin their evening. Moments later, Nathan and Maxie approached their friends and exchanged greetings. After the couples were seated, they each made toasts and talked about some of their antics in the name of love. Moments later, Dante received a call and excused himself. Lulu seized the opportunity to apologize to Maxie for visiting Charlotte at Crimson. Lulu knew that she should have gotten back into the elevator instead of going to her daughter, but Maxie assured Lulu that Lulu had nothing to be sorry for because Lulu had a right to spend time with Charlotte.
Maxie promised that Lulu had her full support and promised to be there to welcome Charlotte home when Lulu prevailed in court. Moments later, Dante returned to ask to speak privately to Lulu. After they stepped away, Nathan and Maxie agreed that Dante and Lulu's conversation looked serious, but Nathan's attention strayed when he saw his sister. Maxie was shocked when Nathan called Nina over, but he explained that they were family and needed to find a way to work things out. Nathan was confident that he could persuade Nina to hire Maxie, so Maxie wouldn't have to continue to lie to Lulu.
Nina walked up and greeted both Nathan and Maxie by wishing them each a happy Valentine's Day. Nathan decided to cut to the chase and talked to Nina about hiring Maxie back. Nina accused Maxie of allowing Lulu to traumatize Charlotte for a second time and insisted that Maxie's actions had been thoughtless and negligent, which was why Nina had fired Maxie. Nina smiled pleasantly and walked away.
Meanwhile, Dante told Lulu that Diane had called to let him know that the custody hearing had been scheduled and to warn them that Valentin had hired a shark that had never lost in family court. Lulu was disappointed by the development, but she agreed that it was time to call it a night. Dante and Lulu returned to the table to let Nathan and Maxie know about Diane's phone call and explained that they needed to prepare for the case. After Dante and Lulu left, Maxie warned Nathan that it wouldn't be easy for her to find a job because Crimson was the pinnacle of fashion in Port Charles. Maxie added that she might have to expand her search. Nathan surprised Maxie by readily assuring her that he'd move to New York City if it was necessary.
Later, Dante and Lulu snuggled in bed as each admitted that they were worried about the custody hearing.
On another floor of the hotel, Curtis knocked on a door. A beautiful mystery woman opened the door and warmly greeted him with a hug. The two old friends exchanged pleasantries as the woman invited Curtis into her room. The visit took a turn when the woman reached for a small case on a side table. Curtis's eyes rounded with surprise when he noticed the cocaine, but he quickly explained that he'd been clean for six years. The woman was impressed and asked if he was seeing anyone. Curtis changed the subject by offering to take the woman out for dinner and drinks.
At Kiki's apartment, Kiki put on some lipstick and answered a knock at the door. It was Dillon. He had red roses, a heart-shaped box of chocolates, and a teddy bear, but Kiki was put off by the gifts and tried to downplay the importance of Valentine's Day. Offended, Dillon started to leave, but she called out to him and quickly apologized for overreacting. Dillon smiled and admitted that he'd been teasing Kiki and that he hadn't been serious about the gifts since they were attending an "anti-Valentine's Day" party. Kiki relaxed and playfully scolded him. The couple kissed, but Kiki's phone kept ringing, so Dillon pulled away and urged her to check her voicemail since it was clear that the caller would not give up. Kiki checked her voicemail, but her smile faded when she learned that her mother had been arrested for Morgan's murder.
In the interrogation room, Ava was relieved when Scott entered the room, but she was furious that it had taken him forever to get there. She complained about not being given a toothbrush, a shower, or a decent cup of coffee and demanded to know where he'd been. Scott admitted that he'd been on a "diving expedition," but changed the subject to find out what Ava had been arrested for. Ava admitted that she had no idea because the evidence against her had either been planted or fabricated. Ava denied that she'd had anything to do with Morgan's death.
"But Ava, we both know that you did," Scott whispered. Ava insisted that she'd been set up and clarified that she'd been charged with planting the bomb in Julian's car rather than switching Morgan's medications. Scott was shocked that anyone would believe that Ava had tried to kill Julian and vowed to take a close look at the lease to the Chinese herbal shop. Ava was relieved, but she implored Scott to track down Julian because Julian had agreed to help her and could easily clear everything up.
Scott stepped into the squad room to call Julian, but Julian was uncooperative and told Scott that it was up to Scott to clear Ava's name. Scott was furious when Julian abruptly ended the call, so Scott returned to the interrogation room to update Ava. Ava couldn't believe that her brother had left her out to hang. Scott complained that Julian had been rude by hanging up since Scott had gotten Julian acquitted. Astounded, Ava reminded Scott that it had been her -- not Scott -- who had forced Paul to help them. Scott shrugged it off and fetched Ava a cup of water, which he quickly spiked with alcohol from a flask that he'd had hidden in his jacket.
Ava was determined to find out what was going on because she thought it was ironic that she might go down for a crime she hadn't committed. She wondered if she should confess to replacing Morgan's psychiatric drugs with placebos to get a reduced sentence, but Scott strenuously objected.
In the squad room, Jordan greeted Kiki and Dillon and offered to take Kiki to talk to Ava in the interrogation room. Kiki entered the room as Scott walked out. Ava immediately declared her innocence and promised that she hadn't been responsible for the bomb that had killed Morgan. Ava insisted that she would never hurt her brother and couldn't have known that Morgan would steal Julian's car. Kiki admitted that during the ride to the police station she'd recalled all the times that Ava had tried to breakup Morgan and Kiki. Ava reiterated that she'd had no part in planting the bomb and begged Kiki to believe her. Kiki warned Ava that if she found out that Ava had had any part in Morgan's death then it would be the end of their relationship.
"That is how you will lose me -- forever," Kiki clarified. After Kiki left, Scott returned to assure Ava that he would get her out of the mess she was in, but she wondered if she might be safer in jail since Sonny would be on the hunt for her.
Across town, Andre saw Jordan enter the Floating Rib and take a seat at the bar. He acknowledged her, but quickly collected his things and assured her that he'd leave. Jordan assured him that it wasn't necessary, but Andre disagreed. He admitted that he'd been thinking about their Valentine's Day date the previous year and how different things had been. Andre knew that Jordan had always believed that he hadn't had a good time that evening, but he assured her that he‘d had fun. "Much better than tonight," he added under his breath as Curtis entered the bar.
Andre was hurt that Jordan had let him talk abut their relationship knowing that Curtis would be arriving, but Jordan promised that things were not as they seemed. Andre paid his tab and stormed out. Curtis sat at a table and watched as Jordan remained at the bar. Eventually, she decided to approach him, but Curtis' friend had arrived. Frustrated, Jordan left.
At Kiki's apartment, Dillon offered to leave if Kiki wanted to be alone, but she doubted that it would help. Kiki admitted that she felt as if they would never get past Morgan's death no matter how hard they tried. She added that it would destroy her if Ava had been responsible for Morgan's death. Kiki decided that perhaps she should be alone because her life was a mess, but Dillon reminded her that his father was a serial killer so he could deal with the twists and turns. He promised to stay with her every step of the way.
At Kiki's apartment, Dillon and Kiki kissed passionately. Things quickly heated up, but Dillon pulled back to ask if Kiki was sure. She smiled and kissed him. Dillon and Kiki made their way to her bedroom, undressed each other, and made love.
Afterwards, they snuggled in bed and expressed how happy they were. Their conversation shifted as they talked about their rocky journey to be together and the disastrous "dates" along the way. Kiki regretted that she'd pushed Dillon away, but he assured her that it was in the past. Kiki thanked him for all the ways he'd helped her, especially when she'd refused to leave her apartment after the shooting. She realized that it had been a lot to deal with, especially her mother's recent arrest for killing Morgan. Kiki knew it wasn't what Dillon had signed up for, but he assured her that he wouldn't leave her and offered her words of encouragement.
Kiki confided that it was hard for her to trust Ava because Ava had lied too many times, and Ava had been desperate to break Kiki and Morgan up. Dillon and Kiki discussed the lengths that Ava had gone to in order to drive a wedge between Kiki and Morgan as well as Dillon's role in some of Ava's scheme. Dillon promised Kiki that his feelings for her were genuine. Kiki smiled because she believed and trusted Dillon. Kiki confessed that she felt "incredible" with him and prayed that the feeling stayed with her forever. Dillon grinned as she began to make love to him. He admitted that he hoped it would last forever.
In Metro court Restaurant, Maxie was surprised when she returned to the table and noticed that Nathan had left.
In Nina's hotel suite, Nina was disappointed when she opened the door and saw Nathan instead of Valentin. Nathan insisted that he needed to talk to his sister about something important. Nathan admitted that he knew why Nina had fired Maxie and he acknowledged that both Maxie and Nina believed that they'd been in the right, but Nina disagreed -- she was certain that she'd been in the right. Nina reminded Nathan that he hadn't been there and had accused Maxie of traumatizing Charlotte. Nathan defended his wife by insisting that she'd been trying to help a mother and daughter, but Nina argued that Charlotte wanted nothing to do with Lulu.
Nathan changed tactics by reminding his sister that she needed Maxie at Crimson, but Nina was confident that she could run the magazine without Maxie's help. Nathan begged Nina to consider it, but Nina explained that she was firmly on Valentin's side. Nina explained that her husband had accepted her for who she was and admitted that she would have married Valentin even if Charlotte hadn't been part of the package. Nina insisted that Valentin had just wanted to protect his daughter, but Nathan begged Nina to listen carefully. He admitted that he wanted Nina in his life, but he needed his wife. Nina's eyes filled with tears as she asked if he intended to turn his back on his sister if Nina didn't give Maxie the job back, but Nathan shook his head and implored Nina to find a way to compromise.
Moments later, Maxie banged on the door, demanding to talk to Nina. Nina went to the door, but Maxie's eyes quickly found Nathan. Maxie was furious and accused Nina of summoning Nathan in an effort to sway him to Nina's side. Nathan assured Maxie that Nina hadn't summoned him; he'd decided to pay Nina a visit because he'd hoped to try to make things work. Maxie assured him that she was willing to work with Nina as long as Nina acknowledged that Maxie had been right -- and Nina had been wrong. Nina snorted and pointed out to Nathan that Maxie's reaction was exactly what she'd been concerned about.
Maxie made it clear that she'd been talking to her husband, not Nina, then added that Nathan didn't need to fight Maxie's battles. Nina advised Maxie to reconsider because Nina had been tempted to hire Maxie back. However, Nina realized that it wouldn't work because of Maxie's attitude. Maxie was fine with that and wished Nina well with running Crimson. "Right into the ground," Maxie muttered under her breath.
Nathan decided to have a private word with his wife and dragged Maxie to the hallway. Nina fired off a text message to Valentin, asking were he was, and was stunned when he replied that he was at the hospital. Alarmed, Nina told Nathan and Maxie that they would have to continue their talk at another time and instructed them to leave. After they left, Nina grabbed her purse and coat then left the suite.
In Metro Court Restaurant, Nathan guided Maxie to a table as they talked about Nina's odd behavior when she'd rushed them out. Maxie suspected that Valentin was in some kind of trouble because no one else could have sparked that kind of reaction from Nina. Nathan was impressed with Maxie's insight into Nina, so Maxie clarified that she genuinely cared about Nina and wanted Nina to be happy, but she worried that Valentin would hurt her sister-in-law.
At the hospital, Hayden found Finn passed out in a dark examination room. She gently shook him until he jumped up. Worried, she admitted that she'd noticed a change in him and asked what was going on. Finn carefully explained that he didn't want to hurt her again, but Hayden implored him to trust her and open up to her. She threatened to go to Tracy with her concerns if he refused let Hayden in, but their talk was cut short when Finn's phone chimed. Finn glanced at it and told her that Griffin needed him. Finn told Hayden that she looked pretty and quickly slipped out the door.
Elsewhere, Laura approached Tracy to hand her a bedpan and order her to get to work, but Tracy balked and decided to get a drink. Annoyed, Laura followed Tracy to the Floating Rib and voiced her objection when she saw Tracy enjoying a martini when people were on the verge of losing their jobs. Tracy claimed that she was trying to save jobs and the hospital, but Laura accused Tracy of doing the opposite. Laura and Tracy had a heated argument about laying off the nurses. Tracy smiled when she saw Hayden enter because Hayden would back Tracy up, but Hayden asked for a private word with Tracy.
Tracy was curious if Hayden had fired everyone, but Hayden explained that she'd been stymied from laying off the nurses because they'd all called in sick. Tracy was livid, but Laura was delighted. Tracy advised Hayden to call the nurses, send them an email, or tweet them if necessary to let them know that they were out of jobs. Tracy wanted the task done, but Laura begged both Hayden and Tracy to reconsider and do the right thing. Tracy insisted that it was the only option because half the board wanted the hospital closed.
Hayden realized that she wouldn't get anywhere with Tracy, and she left. Laura remained determined to get through to Tracy, but Tracy's mind was made up. Tracy reminded Laura that Tracy's family had been a mainstay of the hospital, but Laura told Tracy to shut up because the Quartermaines hadn't been the only family to have had an impact on the hospital. Laura reminded Tracy that both of Laura's parents, Drs. Rick and Lesley Webber, had worked at the hospital for years, as had Laura's sister, nurse Amy Vining. Laura pointed out that she still had family members who worked at the hospital, which meant that three generations of Laura's family had been on the staff.
Laura acknowledged that she'd lived in a lot of different places and had visited quite a few hospitals, but none could compare to General Hospital because of the sense of community and family that the nurses had created. Laura insisted that the nurses genuinely cared about the patients, so it might save money to cut the staff, but cutting the nursing staff would be the hospital's downfall because the nurses were the heart and soul of the hospital. Tracy argued that the ends justified the means, but she conceded that there were exceptions. Tracy agreed the hospital was the sum of its history and admitted that she'd lost sight of what was important because she'd let the facts and figures cloud her thinking. However, Tracy conceded that Laura had made her see things differently. Laura smiled with joy when Tracy agreed there might be another solution.
At Elizabeth's house, Franco slipped his arms around Elizabeth's waist as she put some food on a tray. She smiled and turned in his arms to ask how he was feeling. He admitted that he was eager to get out of the house and take her to Kelly's, but Elizabeth objected because she wanted him to rest. Franco followed her to the living room and kissed her passionately as Felix and Epiphany let themselves in. Felix and Epiphany cleared their throats, prompting Franco and Elizabeth to pull apart. Elizabeth smiled and awkwardly explained that Franco had been recuperating in her home. Felix and Epiphany were curious if Franco knew why they'd stopped by, so Franco tried to answer their questions as best as he could.
Eventually, Elizabeth asked Felix and Epiphany to give Franco a break because she'd told him about the "sick-out." Franco assured Felix and Epiphany that he supported the nurses and offered to help. Franco agreed to help everyone brainstorm, but Felix and Epiphany quickly declined. Elizabeth reminded Franco that he was still recovering from his injuries, but Felix and Epiphany admitted that they had another use for Franco. Franco was curious what Felix and Epiphany wanted him to do, so Felix asked Franco to go to the hospital to find out if the "sick-out" had worked and if the board was willing to negotiate. Epiphany reminded everyone that the board might still lay them off, and she asked Franco to find out.
Franco promised to get some answers and kissed Elizabeth goodbye. Felix and Epiphany waited until Franco had left before they grilled Elizabeth about Elizabeth's relationship with Franco. Elizabeth tried to evade the questions by reminding her friends of why they were there, but Felix and Epiphany wanted answers. Elizabeth smiled and quietly admitted that she was in love with Franco. Felix was happy for Elizabeth and hugged her as he likened her relationship with Franco to Beauty and the Beast. Epiphany seemed less enthusiastic. Felix called Epiphany out on her reaction, but Epiphany insisted that she just wanted to make certain that Elizabeth was happy.
Elizabeth promised that she was happy, so Epiphany congratulated Elizabeth, but Epiphany made it clear that she would keep a close eye on Franco. Elizabeth turned the discussion back to their battle with the hospital's board. Felix was confident that they could devise a countermove once Franco reported back.
At the hospital, Valentin arrived carrying Anna in his arms. He called out for help as he gently put her on a gurney. Anna groaned, so Valentin assured her that she would be okay. Griffin appeared and angrily demanded to know what Valentin had done to Anna.
Griffin took Anna to a hospital room as Valentin followed and filled Griffin in about how he'd caught Anna breaking into Wyndemere right before she had collapsed. Alarmed, Griffin asked if Anna had been complaining of a migraine. Valentin nodded, so Griffin tested Anna's reflexes. After Griffin determined that Anna's hand was weak, he left. Valentin's expression remained anxious as he watched Anna fall asleep.
Valentin put his phone away when he saw Griffin and Finn approach. Valentin was desperate for an update on Anna and asked if she was in any pain. Finn assured Valentin that she was resting, but Valentin wanted to know what was wrong with Anna and if she'd had a stroke. Griffin reminded Valentin that Valentin was not Anna's next of kin. After Griffin stormed off, Valentin explained to Finn that Anna's welfare was his business because she'd broken into Wyndemere right before she had collapsed. Finn admitted that it was too soon to tell, but they'd found a blood clot and had put Anna on some medications.
Finn added that there would be further tests and stepped away to talk to Griffin about Anna's treatment. Griffin was surprised when Finn decided to draw blood from Anna, but Finn assured Griffin that it wouldn't be a problem.
In Anna's hospital room, Finn finished filling a vial with blood and withdrew the syringe from Anna's arm as she watched. She appeared weak, so he instructed her to rest. Anna immediately fell asleep as Finn started to write something on the vial of blood, but his hands began to shake, and he dropped the vial. He was relieved that it hadn't shattered and glanced at Anna to make certain that she hadn't seen what he'd done. He knelt down to pick up the vial, but Griffin had entered the room and had beaten him to it. Griffin started to question Finn's odd behavior, but Finn evaded the questions and snatched the vial out of Griffin's hand to get it tested.
Later, Finn approached Griffin at the nurses' station to let Griffin know that Anna's blood tests were underway and should be completed soon. Griffin was grateful, but he wanted to know what had been going on with Finn because he'd noticed that Finn had been sweating and his hands had been shaking earlier. Griffin knew it wasn't Blackwood's syndrome because both Finn and Hayden had been cured. Finn reminded Griffin that Finn had suffered from the disease far longer than Hayden had and walked away, but Griffin followed because he wanted answers. Finn was spared from the interrogation when a nurse walked up and handed Finn the results of Anna's blood tests.
Griffin noticed the concerned expression on Finn's face and asked what was wrong. "It's not good," Finn warned Griffin.
In Anna's hospital room, Valentin closed the door and carefully approached her bedside as she slept. He gently took her hand in his and held it to his cheek as he sat down. "Sano. Sanas. Sanat. Sanamos," Valentin whispered. He reminded her that it was Latin for "to heal." He recalled teaching her the phrase, but he doubted that she remembered it.
At the nurses' station, Franco greeted Hayden. She was surprised that he had shown up for work, since Elizabeth was one of the nurses who'd been affected by the layoff. Franco shrugged and claimed that he knew that Hayden was in a tough position and had a job to do. Hayden appreciated his understanding and explained that part of the budget cuts included Franco's art therapy program. Franco was stunned when Hayden added that he was out of a job, effective immediately.
Meanwhile, Nina stopped an orderly to show him a picture of Valentin and asked if her husband had been admitted. The orderly shook his head, but he added that he'd seen Valentin and directed Nina to Anna's hospital room. Nina quietly opened the door, but froze in the doorway when she saw Valentin lovingly hold Anna's hand as he assured her that everything would be okay because Anna was safe with him.
Julian sat at a table with his sister in the Floating Rib and advised her that he wouldn't continue to help her if she hurt any of the people he loved. Olivia questioned whether he was defying her, but Julian assured her that with the hospital in chaos, it would soon be hers. He added that he wanted to be finished with her in all ways once she got what she wanted. Julian stated that he'd done everything she'd asked him to do, and he never wanted to see or hear from her again. Olivia promised, though she reminded him that she was still waiting for her delivery.
At General Hospital, Sam and Jason discovered that their childbirth class had been canceled due to the nursing sick-out. They talked about Morgan's killer, who was still out there somewhere, even though Ava had been arrested for the crime. Jason received a call from Michael asking for his support at an emergency Quartermaine meeting. Sam agreed to meet her husband at the Floating Rib after the meeting.
Nina walked into a patient room and spotted her husband sitting by Anna's bedside and holding her hand. After hearing Valentin tell Anna that she was safe with him, Nina fled from the room. Just then, a confused Anna woke up and abruptly pulled her hand from Valentin's. She ordered him to leave. Nina was extremely upset and confronted her husband in the hallway outside Anna's room. He showed her the unfinished text message he had started earlier to let her know what had happened. He said he would explain everything at her suite at the Metro Court.
Finn had the results of Anna's blood work, but he wanted to have further testing done to be sure of the diagnosis. He and Griffin made a plan for Anna's care and proceeded to her room. The doctors told Anna that she had a blood clot, and they wanted to get to the cause of it. Anna revealed that she'd had her headaches for a few months and some itchy skin. Finn asked for Anna's consent to do a bone marrow biopsy. He stressed that it was minimally invasive, and they'd have a better idea of what was going on. Anna agreed.
Out at the nursing station, Finn grabbed onto the desk suddenly. Eyeing a tray full of patient medications in cups, he grabbed one. Back in Anna's room, she informed Griffin that she'd been caught breaking into Valentin's house as she had attempted to plant a bug. Griffin did his best to reassure Anna, but once he left Anna's room, he left a voicemail for Robin. He thanked Finn and said that Finn had been great with Anna. Griffin was happy that Anna was in Finn's care, as she meant a lot to him. He knew that Anna was terrified. Finn promised to do all that he could. They agreed that they had been right to not tell Anna that she might have cancer.
Anna tearfully tried to calm herself down. She was certain that she probably just had a vitamin deficiency. "You'll be fine," she said to herself.
Olivia Falconeri was ready to head home after a lovely Valentine's Day dinner with Ned. He asked her to stay the night, and she confided that she really didn't feel comfortable doing that. She felt like a visitor with his family. Tracy interrupted them to announce that she was about to hold an emergency Quartermaine family meeting, and she wanted Olivia to leave. Ned objected to the meeting and Olivia's ouster, but Tracy considered Olivia to be an outsider. Ned firmly told his mother that Olivia would stay, and he apologized to Olivia for his mother's rudeness. He wasn't ready for their Valentine's Day to be over.
Elizabeth smiled as she picked up around her house after the nurses' meeting. There was a note left behind that read "No Justice, No Peace. Fight the Power." She texted Franco to wish him luck at work. Sam arrived with Jake's science project and told Elizabeth about her canceled class. She'd really wanted a refresher course, though she understood the nurses' strike. Sam was very anxious about the baby's birth though Elizabeth felt certain that all would be resolved.
Franco arrived home and barely saw Kiki and Dillon on the sofa, kissing in a state of undress. He announced that he had been fired while playing a spy for the cause. He headed into the next room, and the young couple quickly dressed. Dillon received a call about an emergency family meeting. Shortly after, Franco peeked out to see if Dillon had gone and if it was safe to walk back into the room.
Franco and Kiki talked about the cuts at the hospital and the fact that he needed to keep his firing hidden from Elizabeth. He received her good luck text and wondered how he could tell her. Kiki was sure that Elizabeth would understand, especially after she heard that Franco and Elizabeth were official. Kiki advised him that love was both good and bad, and she suggested that he trust Elizabeth.
Franco arrived at Elizabeth's, and Sam quickly departed. Elizabeth wanted all the juicy details of Franco's spying expedition. He revealed that he had also been cut from the hospital staff, and the art therapy department was closed. Elizabeth was sad to hear that, and she said she would fight for him too. It wasn't just about the nurses. If necessary, they would both find new jobs; she said, "We can make it work." "We?" Franco asked. Elizabeth assured Franco that they were in it together. Franco was pleased to be able to spend more time with Elizabeth, and she was hoping for a miracle.
Michael and Jason were the last to arrive at the Quartermaine mansion. Michael stated that Ava had been arrested, and Jason noted that he wasn't convinced that Ava had been involved in the car bombing, but at least she'd be out of the way for a little while. Tracy pushed them to get to the meeting quickly. Everyone was gathered finally, and Tracy declared that General Hospital would close if they didn't move quickly to save it. Tracy had handouts for everyone, and they discussed it as a family. It was noted that there were two board members and the chief of staff present right in the room. Michael thought that Tracy's idea was a good one and noted that their company had the liquid assets available. Once the discussion turned to shareholders and patients without insurance, the family began to think that it wasn't such a good idea after all. Olivia wanted to speak. Tracy continued to be rude to her, but Ned urged her on. Olivia suggested that the Quartermaines buy the hospital themselves.
Olivia thought that the Quartermaines would do what was right. Suddenly, the family was enthusiastic as they all arrived at their own decision on where they'd get the money. Jason thought that Edward would think of it as a worthy cause. "Start crunching numbers," Tracy ordered as Jason left to meet Sam. Eventually, everyone had a check for Tracy. Ned sang Olivia's praises and kissed her goodbye. Dillon called Kiki to advise her that he was "significantly less wealthy." He was impressed that his brother had stood up to Tracy. Ned shared that he planned on making Olivia part of the family.
Alexis received a flower delivery at home. It was a bouquet of flowers that resembled her bridal bouquet. She pulled out the card and read that they were from Julian. As she recalled her wedding day, the doorbell rang. It was Julian, and he told her that he had needed to see her. The bouquet had been for Valentine's Day. He handed her a key to a safe deposit box and advised her that he had an explanation for all that he'd done. She would find a letter and his will in the box. Alexis demanded to know what was going on. She asked if someone were threatening him.
Alexis reminded Julian that she didn't trust him, but Julian insisted that he couldn't tell her anything. He had left instructions with the bank, and if she didn't hear from him again, they'd let her know when she could read his letter. He added that he loved her and wished her a happy Valentine's Day. Then, he left.
Nina and Valentin belatedly arrived at the Metro Court and the suite that Nina had booked. Valentin explained the events involving Anna and how he'd ended up at the hospital. He added that Anna seemed to be obsessed with him, though Nina mentioned that Anna felt the same about Valentin. He was sorry that Nina had been upset, though Nina felt better knowing that Valentin had played Good Samaritan. She learned that he'd gone back to the house for her engagement ring, as Valentin reminded her that their entire marriage had been in reverse. He handed her the ring.
Valentin expressed his love for Nina and told her how she'd changed his life. Nina shared how reluctant she was to voice her own feelings because she always seemed to lose someone. The couple made love, and afterwards, Nina admired her new ring. She went into the bathroom to draw a bath for two in the special tub, and Valentin placed a call to the hospital to check on Anna's condition.
Sam and Jason met up at the Floating Rib and agonized over the blonde woman captured in the photo. Sam typed the name of Olivia Jerome into a search engine on her phone, but all she saw was a photo of a dead woman. Olivia Jerome sat nearby and watched. She continued to keep an eye on the couple until she eventually left.
