Theresa is having a romantic night with Ethan at the Blue Note, but it is short lived when Pilar calls telling Theresa that Little Ethan has a fever. She runs out without telling Ethan, and Ethan wonders what's going on. Pilar gives Theresa bad news. Her cousins were murdered at Juanita's orders; consequently, Pilar tells Theresa that she cannot tell Ethan the truth because Juanita will locate them and kill the rest of the family.
Luis and Fancy share a romantic night at the Blue Note. Back at the cottage, Sheridan tells Alistair how much she hates him. She tells Alistair that he did not return Marty to her out of the goodness of his heart, so there must be a hidden agenda. There is indeed. Alistair wants Sheridan to use Marty to tear Luis and Fancy apart. Sheridan is gullible enough to work for Alistair because she is desperate to get Luis back. Sheridan uses Marty to lure Luis to the cottage. Marty calls Luis begging him for his help, and then Sheridan gets on the phone acting as if she and Marty are in danger. Luis leaves a note for Fancy before leaving the Blue Note. A waitress knocks the note on the ground. Fancy runs back looking for Luis to ring in the new year with him, but he is no where to be found. At the mansion, Esme waits for Alistair's arrival. She tries to put the moves on him, but Alistair seems suspicious. He humors her and joins her for a drink. Esme's goal is to get Alistair murdered by the mystery killer. She really has no interest in Alistair.
Miguel is miserable and demands to know why he can't remember four months of his life, so Kay admits that he was sucked into hell by the demons and that she and Tabitha are witches. Miguel thinks she is evil, and Kay tries to convince him that all the evil is on Tabitha. Miguel doesn't know what to believe anymore. Tabitha tells Kay that it was a bad move telling Miguel the truth because she has lost him again. Miguel has a change of heart and tells Kay that he loves her.
Due to the New Year's holiday, Passions was preempted today.
This preemption was anticipated and there will be no "lost" episodes as a result of this special sports coverage.
Regular broadcasting will resume on Wednesday, January 2nd and pick up where the action ended on Monday, December 31st.

Ethan finds Theresa hidden away in the Crane cabin and demands to know why she ran out on him. Gwen and Rebecca worry that Theresa will tell Ethan the truth about Little Ethan and ruin everything. They rush to the cabin to rip the lovers apart for good!
Fancy worries that with Marty back, Luis will rekindle his relationship with Sheridan. Her fears are realized when Sheridan uses Marty to tear Luis and Fancy apart as Alistair requested of her.
Theresa fights to keep any chance of being with Ethan alive as he demands to know who is in the cabin bedroom. Theresa and Gwen both know he can't see Little Ethan in there recuperating or he will find out the truth and Pilar's family will be doomed. Gwen hints to Ethan that Theresa has a lover hidden away and Theresa is forced to tell him that Gwen is right.
Sam arrives at the mansion to arrest Alistair for Chad's murder and instead finds the old man with a knife in his back. Esme and Sam both wonder why Alistair is keeping his attacker's name a secret.
Kay and Miguel spend a romantic evening together but Miguel worries Kay with his reaction to her being a witch. Kay stresses that she is a good witch but Miguel still is wary about witchcraft as a whole and tells her if they are to be together than can be no magic whatsoever!
Passions no longer airs on Fridays. The show airs Monday through Thursday, with catch-me-up marathons on the weekends.
